Hi All:

I was thinking seriously about a Speedy recently. I love the way they look, and I know when NASA stress tested them to become the moon watch they beat out Rolex and Longines-Wittnauer, so I figure they have to be well made and accurate.

However... I have also heard that if you move your hand around violently enough enough you can send the rotor through the spring - there's no plate separating the two inside the watch.

Does this sound right? Anyone actually have this happen?

I've had Omegas for years, never happened to me

I've owned close to a hundred Omegas over the years and never experienced, or even heard of, that happening.

That's a new one on me.

I haven't heard of that happening before, do you have a reference or pictures we can see?

I don't... it was something a Tourneau (OK,, I know, not a great start) salesman said to me, and when I asked a watchmaker at another jeweler (that mainly sold Rolex) if it could happen he said yes with Omega.

However, it sounds like the consensus here is nah... don't worry about it.

The Speedmaster pro has no rotor thing. It was tested against the best watches of its day, including the Rolex Daytona, and it was the ONLY watch found to pass the stress tests...including shock and extreme movement. Don't get an auto.

I bet Bruce Lee could have thrown that rotor through the spring. All the more reason Bruce should have worn a Speedmaster Pro.

I've worn the same Speedmaster Pro for over 30 yrs. It was my go to watch, no babying here. In that time it's had 3-4 (?) cleanings, and it's first full service was just last year.

Imho the Speedy will take anything you throw at it.
