1942 rolex oyster

Hi everyone, so I recently acquired an old rolex oyster bubble back. a wonderful find, came out of a box of watches I bought for $7.50 probably the greatest find I've ever made. I've been doing a lot of research and have learned a lot about rolex and its history.
Now I can't seem to find any watch that is similar to this one. Other than the oyster case. I believe after doing my research, its a1942 perpetual drive oyster. Its has a pinkish gold face, and Roman numerals that are in a little black stripe around the edge. The only watch I have seen with a similar face was from the late twentys, the only difference between the faces in this case was the color of the older watch, it was white faced.
The case number on my watch is 200438 this # is how I came up with the year. The watch appears to have gone through the latter half of ww2 on a soldiers wrist. In my research I have found that Hons Wilsdorf made a special set of watches for the Italian navy in that time period. I'm not sure if this is related to that production, or if it was sold to an American soldier that was in the area at that period of time. Their is small inscription of what I believe to be the soldiers name.
last name being; Buchanan middle initial; E I can't make out the first name it may be Alvin, but I'm not completely sure.
I would like some help on finding out the history on this watch, an approximate value, and it's particular differences to the other time pieces in this Era.
Also I would like to add that it works as if it were brand new, even though It's approximately 73 years old.
Any information to help me on my search would be really appreciated. Thanks
In the last picture you can read the case number.

Just post it again, but in the Vintage Rolex section instead of this one. Mod = Moderator.

Did you do any research on the engraved owner's name? Could well be someone else, but this fits with your date:
