How could these be done?

Hi trf family,
Although its not interrupting me alot strangly i feel more comfortable wearing and scratching AP ROO more than my TT sub c. Somehow i feel that If the sub case got dinged badly at a degree that i need to change the middle case i would take a hit in the watch value as the serial number will chamge while in AP, there is no serial number on the case only caseback and movement. Thus it gives me feeling to wear my APs comfortably while it might not be the case
But some marks i got on the AP got me thinking if its repairable or not or how APSC would fix such the below ding appear on the pics
Its the ding on the corner polished side of crown guards its a bit small but catch the light a bit

Sorry but could not attach all pics in one post. So will they just polished without rubbing mubc metals or just laser weld???

Not sure how they would fix that, but from the size of it, I would just enjoy the watch and let it go. I’ve had some nasty nicks and have always found a buyer for my pieces when done w them. I doubt I had ever thought about replacing a case on a watch. Nicks scratches dents are all part of enjoying them. Bound to happen. Same as people that buy exotics but dont want to drive them for fear of depreciation.

They can definitely laser weld to bring it back to factory if need be. Enjoy it til its ready for service and ask them to repair it when it goes in for the spa treatment!

Spoken to APSC and according to the lady over the counter, they do laser welding but only for gold material at flat surfaces. Edge section will no be laser welded. Steel? Just polish.

How could these be done?

Bubble wrap it, put it in a safe and don’t wear it. That should prevent damage.

Have you ever received a quote on a new mid-case? Your loss on selling a dented Rolex would be less than replacing a case and that's not even considering any other factors (e.g. non-matching serial #'s). Wear and enjoy the small blemishes.

Did not realize AP only puts serial on caseback... not sure how I feel about that?

On the other hand my recommendation is to wear and enjoy.

On the caseback and movement

APSC in Clearwater had to laser weld my clasp on my ROC when it went in for service and it is stainless steel so you might have been given incorrect information. The part about flat surfaces could be correct though!

I did thought off she’s bluffing me as I read few examples of laser welding done on stainless steel cases, especially by LAWW and ABC. Maybe APSC here has different practise.

So would they laser weld only flat surfaces or would do angles like in crown lugs or dents on the polished lines on the sides of the case???

any "damage" that can only be seen in a macro isnt damage. IMO

If you get a new case resale is the least of your concerns as a new case isnt cheap. So you will maybe take a resale hit (although there will be documentation noting the case change) but the bigger issue is all the extra money you are into your watch as a result of the case replacement.
