rolex 116655 or patek 5167r

Want a rose gold simple sports watch. Love the design of 116655 but like the brand and comfort of 5167r. Any ssuggestion?

PS. Is it possible to get discount in UK for rolex 116655?

The 5167r is not in high demand so you can possibly get a discount. The the larger sized yachmaster is in demand, so I doubt you would get a discount.

for an aquanaut i would get a 5164A. Since you want a RG watch I would get 116655. The OF strap blows the Patek strap out of the water, obviously the aquanaut is a nicer watch overall though. I just prefer the RG YM to the RG aqua.

If the intent is an everyday watch the YM bezel is preferred but the YM is a lot more sporty looking as a result and doesn’t look as good as the aquanaut dressed up. So they each have advantages

In RG I much prefer the 67r, the YM just felt flat on me, surprising for a RG watch. 64 would be my first choice too.

I love the YM 116655. The RG with the matte black works so very well.

It is one of my all time favorite watches.

Opposite here in the U.S. Most ADs I've visited have the 116655 on display but no RG Aquanaut.

The PP pops more on the wrist compared to the Rolex. The Rolex is more rugged and sporty though.

Not meaning to just toot Mitchell’s horn, but his pics are amazing and make watches look truly mouthwatering. Additionally, his 5167 fits to perfection.
I like both styles, but think the 5167 would be enjoyed more for its fit and comfortable wearing.

Just to put things in perspective. The MRSP in the UK is:

5167R GBP 27180
5164R GBP 39 090

116655 GBP18 350

i will never understand why a 5164R costs more than a 5524 G/R with the same movement. Totally illogical. Its even less gold content/smaller case. £2600 is a large difference. Every time i see that 64R price i think about that.

Exactly (although I think you meant walk in). Go into an AD, start a discussion about the aquanauts, they will offer you a 5167r as it is the least in demand. Even the oversubscribed London salon said I could get one from them in less than 18 months.

Maybe white gold is more expensive vs. RG and Patek sporty watches are more popular than Calatrava line.

imo, if u want a more rugged look, then the YM has that more than the 67R. in fact, i wouldn't say the aquanaut says anything about 'rugged'...that's not it's character. it's more a finesse piece that has the technical specs to go anywhere the YM can (on paper, the 67 has greater water resistance!).

the bezel on the YM is quite chunky for my taste.
also, if ur going to get a PM case, then show off the PM...which, the 67R does far greater than the YM. i think the rose gets lost quite a bit in all the black of the YM (bezel, dial, strap). which, btw...i'd take patek's rose over Rolex's everose...it's subjectively a matter of taste, but the everose is too pink for me.

whereas the rose case of the aquanaut is further accentuated by the radiant brown/gold/black dial...and vice versa!

a few more glamour shots to sway ur decision

rolex 116655 or patek 5167r

Love both but give the YM the edge. Cost of ownership would be considerably less with the YM and IMO, a more daily driver kind of piece.

Overall, I like the PP more. The looks, finishing and wear make me love it. However as a sports watch, it’s too fragile. Rolex is proven in this department.

Has anyone had issues with the durability of their 5167? I have worn mine pretty hard with no problems but I see a lot of posts labeling it less than robust.

I actually prefer non ceramic/ non professional bezels generally though. Aqua, nautilus, etc. Ceramic bezels seem to be there for the watch to hide under and all you see is the bezel. The nautilus and aqua you see the watch

Definitely 5167/r
I have also looked at both but prefer the pp for its exclusivity plus it’s more comfortable for me as I couldn’t get a good fit with the OF strap.
