And I agree with Jorge that if they keep pissing people off especially with new buyers that become disillusioned, one day, there will be no new buyers to pick up the slack when the old buyers decided enough is enough and stop buying.
yeah is tiring playing the game, and even stressful sometimes and thats not something i sign up for. When have you seen customers begging for buying ? AD's used to call you when something come in, now you call with hopes that they might have mercy on you , really ? screw that not playing their game no more, if they want my business a lot of things have to change.

I think it's gorgeous. It's at the top of my list now. The VC corne de vache in one of the pics is also on my short list, along with a Lange 1815 rg chrono. Now *that* is a trio of chronos which would keep me busy. heh.

5524g for me - managed to try a new one on today and found it an awesome piece.

Unfortunately this one was allocated, but kudos to the assistant for getting out the safe and unboxing so that I could try.

I too, have been very blessed with being able to acquire a number of hard to get watches in the last 12 months. But like you, I know when I slow down and want to focus on enjoying, the hoops to jump through get harder and harder to pass such that I no longer want to deal with it. There is something jarring to me to spending 5 figures on a luxury item and it feeling like I was being done a favour.

Also, I'm finding they draw unwanted attention sometimes too.

My current job is already enough of a rat race - it is almost crazy when I rationally think about it, that I'm spending my disposable income only to enter another rat race and leave myself feeling tired and disillusioned afterwards.

A couple of my friends who are late to this watch game are absolutely turned off by what the ADs are telling them. "Buy some jewellery and a Sub might magically appear" - way to turn people off before they've even started!

I’m pretty content for now. If the opportunity presented itself, I might possibly consider trading my 3940g toward a 5740g or 5970g

The watch on the left is on my want list but I'm having trouble pulling the trigger because I think it's overpriced. I'm also still wanting the white dial Daytona at MSRP.

The Vacheron corne de vache is an incredible piece, one which I would also love to add one day. After the customary VC discounts, I actually think it represents great value in comparison to its Patek counterparts, for instance.

For those who have had both the 5905p and 5960p, does the former wear considerably larger/thicker/heavier?

At the moment I am looking for a perpetual calendar. Thinking 3940 or 5320. Eventually looking to pull the trigger on a 5231. Would love the platinum...

I really like the Corne de Vache also.we have a boutique in Toronto and discounts did not seem to be much of an option. Would love to hear what people are getting.

Boutiques are usually tougher. From an AD (or reputable grey), on a platinum VC, I'd say a minimum of 20% would make sense.

I had 5960p before now I have 5905p. Never owned them simultaneously.
Larger ? /It doesn’t
Thicker ? /yes, but I like that
Heavier ? Hard to remember that but I’ll say that it has to be a little more heavy , more for the extra thickness than the 2 mm extra in diameter.

Thank you for your kind comment. I agree that compared to Patek, the VC is a great value but I'm comparing the value to Lange, who makes better watches than both brands, in my opinion, and the VC comes up short when that comparison is made. Patek has become the antithesis of value, in my opinion.

Nothing. I experienced watch collecting fatigue and have instead diverted my funds and energy towards cars. They're desirable (to me) for similar reasons as fine timepieces but give me more ownership pleasure beyond the acquisition/hunting phase.

I visited Patek's 2019 model show at my AD recently. It was so crowded and I also don't like the atmosphere of customers "begging" for a hot model.... spending USD 5-6 figures on a watch should be more relaxed and the other way around. Lots of people are suddenly into this hobby as the resale value increases... it sort of ruins the hobby. Even though I have some hot pieces that have increased in value, I prefer the old days where you can sometimes find a nautilus in the shop window, or at most wait a reasonable time. A hobby should not be so stressful! Perhaps the increase in "value" is the compensation for the stress.
