The hackable movement alone is why I would go with the 3861. Hated that the old one didn't have this. Also like the tapering on the new bracelet.

That's good to hear, looking forward to it. Thanks for your reply.

My own memory of all the press when the watch was released was they they are clear red for space in the same way that that the previous model is still.

At the time of release, Omega said that the new movement was not tested and certified by NASA. Instead Omega tested the new movement and watch themselves using the same tests that NASA would have performed. Whenever NASA gets around to testing the new watch, it should pass everything with ease if Omega tested to the same standards.

So the watch is certified as written on the watch!

Omega didn't write on the watch that that NASA did the testing all over again. Or that 80 yr old men and machines performed the tests. They said that NASA had certified the closed caseback edition for EVA activities. They have.

I bought an 1863 (open case back) last July. I love it. I’m definitely not updating either.

Personally, I think the METAS co-axial movement is great, but only beneficial if it’s an every day watch with an automatic movement.

I only wear my Speedmaster a couple days a week.

If you have to set the time and wind the watch every time before wearing it, then why does it matter anyway????

I’m not losing any sleep over not having the METAS co-axial movement.
