5146 or 3940
The 5146 is mine but I keep coming back to the 3940. If I do take the plunge I ll have to trade in the 5146.
Pros for the 3940- I much prefer the dial layout Its a perpetual calendar (compared to annual 5146) I think the size fits my wrist (6.75in) and would fit well under a shirt cuff Cons- The dials seemed difficult to read but it was very poor lighting when I tried it on Will I end up regret going for a smaller watch? (I know, only I can answer that) Older model (2005) I will have to shell out £14k and trade in my 5146 for it Pros for the 5146- The dial size and brown (thicker) strap make this a good casual wearer I do like the dial and I'm very fond of the leaf hands It's a newer model (2007) Cons- It's not a perpetual Sometimes I think the case is a little too thick (that was only after I saw the 3940) Poor picture but it gives you an idea. A couple of wrist shots: And I do have a tendency to get bored and look around for something else. I have been a flipper in the past but I'm trying to consolidate now, after losing a fair bit of cash. Keep the 5146 or go for the 3940. What would you do? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I am biased..your pics just made me realise how special the 5146 is...buy a black strap to make it feel different

If you have two ACs then I'd get rid of one and get the 3940 or just keep the cash from the sale and keep off to the side until you find a piece that you must have.

IMHO, they're both great watches but the 5146 wears better on my 7" wrist.
I just recently chose the 5146. |

If the 3940 fits you well and you're comfortable with the size, I'd go for it. Great combo with the 5396. But you really can't go wrong as the 5146 is a great watch too.

You have 2 ACs, so how about moving the 5396 instead and picking up the 3940 as you seem to really like your 5146?

Of all the pieces, Philippe Stern's favorite is the 3940. It's a true classic that's no longer produced.

For me the 3940 is in a different league. Proportions are perfect, and perpetual > annual
