storing y'alls Pateks and ensuring their safety

Howdy y'all,

Appreciate y'alls thoughts on a good home-based safe for y'alls Pateks?

For years I have been storing my watches at the bank safe boxes which is in pain my horse's derrier to gallop to and wait while i horse around with my watches.

In general, i have not been impressed with most watch boxes i have owned until last week that my horse sniffed a Goyard. I find it well made and compact that you can easily put in and take out of a standard size bank safe.

Appreciate your thoughts on a good home safe if you recommend that at all.

Apologies if this topic has come up in the past with satisfactory outcome.

Have a wonderful week-end.

Howdy partner. Goyard watch boxes are the best. They now have a new 6 watch case that is fabulous

Gird yer loins pardner - the safe intelligencia will befuddle this thread quicker than Billy the Kid’s draw.

Frankly the safe you’ll find in most BassProShops will do fine if you have a good monitored alarm system with motion detectors. The goal is to delay the burglars longer than average response time.

If you don’t want to bolt it down, just put 8 25kilo plates in the bottom.

Another trick is a big switchbox marked Caution High Voltage attached to the side.

Love the 6 watch trunk. Very well made. Much better than any variations of the globe trotter (that i do like)...but the dimensions not easy to transfer and put in a bank safe, in my humble experience.

Some points i prefer your 4 watch case to my 8 unit one. I bought mine in a rush, hence...

Goyard recently launched a new 6-watch case, this time it's a trunk which is made like their suitcases. I've seen it in person at the boutique and it is drool-worthy. Available in black canvas +black leather trim or black canvas + tan leather trim.

However the price is a lot higher than the watch boxes/trunks shared above. This new watch trunk is around US$7000-8000 (converted to US$ from the retail price in Hong Kong).

PaulG, this is the best i've read in a long time. Albeit, i have to admit i never read, even the Patek manuals.

Safe "intelligencia" - i thought that was a colored water (i.e. coffee) brand from the midwest.

Your ideas here are valuable and useful. I had never thought of them. The purist in me wanted a safe that says patek safe on it but i reckon all the horse rides have made my brain move too much in my head.

I've seen the trunk and love it. Price is reasonable when compared with Globe Trotter /Tiffany or Berluti Collaborations.

If you want to have their normal four or 8 watch boxes (not trunks) in custom made colors, the price will end up higher than the trunk. At least my Lady Goyard said that.

Rather than tell your little dogies to, "git along," git yerself some big, loud doggies and solve a whole passel of issues in one swell foop.

I recently picked up a Scatola del Tempo Vagiletta 16 and love it, but it’s a bit big for most safes.

Pelicase for the ultimate in durability, shock resistance and portability.

However it is not "premium material"....

I called the Goyard Dallas boutique and it’s $6,760 plus local sales tax here in the states. This is only for the black/black or black/brown colors. You can do custom colors, but of course for an additional surcharge. I’m gonna take a look at the trunk this weekend whenever I’m in the area. It does look pretty sweet.

$7,000+ for a watch box? To go into your safe?!

Insanity spending that much on a watch box imho.

I always have issues looking at Goyard products on their site...

Do they still make the 4-watch box?

Right now I've mainly kept mine in individual watch travel rolls/holders. Either Phase de Lune or more recently the ones from A Collected Man.

Yes, they still make the four and eight watch boxes (non-trunk style).

Four watch box $2,485 (standard colors), $3,105 (custom colors)
Eight watch box: $3,115 (standard colors), $3,895 (custom colors)

USD (taxes excluded).

They make a 4 watch case which is about 2,500. 8 watch case around 3,200 plus tax. I love the proportions of the four box case. 8 box case is probably more practical given y'all Forum-ers here are such practical pardners.

oops just saw your reply after posting mine.
Trunk is gorgeous and around 6,800 i think.
Mix color (non-basic) standard looking watch boxes can easily get to be higher than the trunks.

Ah gotcha! Thanks!

I'll be tempted to get a 4 watch box but unfortunately no stores to check them out at in person. I do however quite like having individual rolls right now.

Highland Park village, to this day one of my favorite open shopping malls in The US. What's more they respect us cowboys double, and let me valet my horse or long horned car equally well.

I am a sucker for nice bags, case, boxes, etc, but I'm not following the Goyard option here. At that price point you are competing with a Brown man-safe. Goyard is nice but so is Brown, plus top notch security. Only difference is that Goyard is portable, Brown is not, if that is what you are after...

Me too, a sucker for nice bags, suitcases and saddles, all preferably hand-made. I appreciate the link to the Brown safe as it addresses the main part and reason for the posting. Gracias.

Brown is not cheap but I think generally considered to be one of the best out there. You can go pre-configured or I have worked with them to custom design a safe. For the money, the custom option makes a lot of sense but there is a decent lead time for an order. Unbelievably number of options available and good folks to work with (of course it goes from expensive to crazy expensive quickly). Location is key and concealed is ideal.

What do you think of this vis-a-vis Brown and such?
