There's also Globe Trotter with 3, 6 and 12-watch hard cases. (These are not the Tiffany & Co. versions). A lot cheaper than the Goyard hard sided case retailing at nearly US$7000.

You're correct regarding the price differential / hence the value. Globe trotters in general are good. I have two globe trotter watch cases but there are design issues with them.

in the picture you see two small finger holders to pull up the watch tray. Guess what? these finger pullers come out each time. Also i prefer the top of the case being soft and pouchy rather than hard. Lastly they take too much space, even more than the Goyard trunk.

A few days ago i received promotions for their new watch cases. I think even these have their issues.

On the other hand, both my horse and i love globe trotter suitcases. globe trotter small.jpeg

Well for me , I want to keep mine on winders. I ordered a really nice safe that has outlets inside . It also has a light that comes on inside. I bolted it to the floor . Of course I have security system w cameras as well . Just my preference.

Well, unfortunately no Patek's for me yet, but I've been eyeing the Bulang & Sons 8 watch box for a few years. They looks pretty versatile & good for "soft travel" or storage in a safe. I've had good experience with their watch rolls/tubes in the single, 2 & 3 versions.

https://bulangandsons.com/collections/watch-boxes-1

On the luxury front, while certainly not Goyard, Faure Le Page has a very cool looking 4 watch case, which houses 4 single pouches. A downside is that it doesn't display the watches. In my opinion, it's too expensive for what it is but I suppose you can argue that about any luxury item. FWIW, I was impressed with the quality of their standard watch cases when I saw them in the boutique last year.

My approach:
- Fire rated gun safe with electrical connection for winders.
- Watches in soft bags with tags to identify. No expensive watch boxes.
- When want to wear a watch, out it comes. When not on my wrist, back it goes.
- Only homeowners insurance. Never a problem, could probably buy a nice watch with the money saved on extra insurance.

Any recommendations for a good gun safe? And do you bolt it down?

I don’t know buben, but their stuff looks amazing. My approach has been different, but not just for watches. As part of a remodel we built a concealed and secured room with hidden keypad access, which is coupled with alarm, cameras etc. I keep most of my watches in the room in a Rapport winder. It has a drawer where I can store a few of my wife's watches that she doesn't usually wear. The winder has a fingerprint lock, which is effectively a joke but kind of fun and kids get a kick out of it. I keep a single Rapport winder in the bedroom for whatever I am currently wearing. I know some dont like winders and frankly I use it effectively like a box (as you can see only a couple are showing the same time and a couple are manual!). I use a Brunello Cuchinelli watch roll when i travel.

Mine was made by Steelwater, but big enough to store many things. Certainly a smaller unit would be best for just watches and jewelry. Not bolted down, heavy weights in bottom.

I recommend against fingerprint opening. I had one and a friend in the security business opened it in 30 seconds!

Liberty makes excellent safes. I have a Liberty USA 30 gun safe which I love. Plenty of storage.

Lovely all pardner. Great taste in everything too, down to your Brunello Cucinelli watch roll which at times i have considered purchasing.

I did a watch insurance one year for only a couple of watches (after my Daytona got stolen). Given how little wrist time each watch gets, was not worth it for me. Since then i have put everything in the bank which is a pain in the a**.

Thanks! I wonder why everyone picks a gunsafe instead of a regular burglar safe?

Thanks for sharing this, Vandyologist. It is notably more affordable than the other options being discussed…and with 16 slots too! I think that’s good value, especially given the material used.
Thanks.

This honestly sounds the most reasonable for Sun Welding safe company (in CA) has a very reasonable range of offerings and options to choose from. They aren’t high luxury, but again appears good value.

I'd pay probably half that for a home safe, not for a watch box to go into a safe

Just saw the new six watch trunk by Goyard in person. My goodness, it is an absolute thing of beauty! The truck as imagined is incredibly detailed for its price tag of $6,880. Photos aren’t allowed in store otherwise I’d post some up.

They also had the two watch roll in stock and I was very impressed with the quality of that as well.

The trunk is gorgeous and IMHO better than other watch trunks i have seen. My Goyard lady sent me pictures watermarked Copyright so I hesitate to post them.

But my horse found this that you may like:

Not to sound like an idiot, but what do you do with a watch trunk? It must be designed for travel, right? Do you bring out this heavy case every time you want to switch your watch? My idea of a trunk is for travel and i dont travel with more than 2-3 watches personally. Just trying to understand.

Howdy MJM700. Fair and intelligent question. To me no use for the trunk aside the fact personally i enjoy handmade brief cases, suitcases, and trunks.

I am fine with a flat watch box like Goyard to protect the watches in it, and put the box in a modest humble safe with my horse guarding it.

When i travel (pre-covid) i tended to carry only one box, 5960a as it looks cheap and unpretentious. On a good number of trips abroad, i end up buying a watch anyways and putting it on my second wrist.

I hope to see your gorgeous collection one day; till then - pictures.

It's fantastic, I had a chance to preview and was very tempted. Alas, with no traveling in mind for the foreseeable future, I'm delaying the purchase.

Thanks! This looks like the perfect match as I do not plan to display it in the middle of the house so the look does not matter. Also, since it is not shallow like a gun safe, I can store other valuable items. The option to have an USB/internal power is great!

Do you have personal experience with them? Or anyone else care to comment?

Icon2 buy a high end TL-15 or 30 safe !!

Honestly, the folks on this thread should truly invest in a high end safe with a minimum of TL-15 or TL-30 level of protection. The liberty gun safes, etc are junk and can be broken into in a few minutes; just look it up on you tube. There are some great home high end safe manufacturers and it is wise to familiarize yourself with the different levels of protection. These safes are a minimum of 1500 lbs and impossible for the rank and file thief to break into. Often they come with internal outlets so you can keep the winder going. Obviously, it's a great place to store all the other valuables as well / Happy safe hunting.
