Best Everyday Patek?
Thoughts on the best PP for everyday use (or near everyday)? I'm not thinking your beater watch, but what you can safely go to on most days for regular use.
Mine has been the 5164a recently. 5524? 5167a? I know some will say whatever they like but is that really true? Plat PC daily? |

I haven’t worn any other of my watches since I got my 5726A. The complication is exactly what I need on my day-to-day, it’s comfortable, and less in your face than any Rolex IMO. The average person will notice a Rolex before a Patek. So I can comfortably wear a $50k watch and people don’t notice.

It depends on what your daily activities are. Are you a CFO for 'investment' banking firm, or a top-notch surfer traveling the world doing competitions? Please define what "regular use" really means? Desk jockey pushing papers and e-mails, or are you a true active sportsman seeking to push the limits of human endeavors, or ???

I suppose by everyday I'm referring to fairly typical use - at home, office, meetings or in the city, running errands, going to lunch, etc. I probably wasn't thinking extreme sports or a wedding. I don't think being a CFO matters but I understand your question. Do you have a PP that is your go to most days? To you purposefully avoid wearing your PPs as an everyday watch?

I think the standard Nautilus and Aquanaut is going to be your typical answer for functionality. That is what they are built for... but of course the secondary market pricing has affected the mindset for that.
Alternatively I think even the 5196 is good enough for a daily. You won't wear it for actual sporting activities or the gym... just take off a watch for that 1-2 hours. Also realistically most people spend their time driving, walking or lounging around in their house, office, or "grabbing groceries." A 5196 on casual strap is perfect. Lol... do most people really think they live that Instagram lifestyle? |

My “daily” Pateks are my 5711/1a and 5164a, mostly depending on attire.

Why would PM make something unsuitable for daily wear? Platinum is not a loud watch. People just assume it's SS.
I wore a Zeitwerk daily for about a year and wore it to factory. No issues and was in good condition when I sold it and moved on too. I'd have no issues doing the same with a plat or WG Patek chrono. |

5167a is one PP I could see wearing from morning to bedtime with no reason to ever take it off. Most strap watches are a no as I usually get my watches pretty wet.
If it was a one and only Rolex, my choice would be a the Explorer 1 214270. Thats the first watch I didn't want to swap out at some point in the day for something else. It's just perfect. I feel the same about the 5167a, the one I tried on was used and sized just right. It was the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. |

Another vote for the 5960 1A. I need steel for a daily.
The finishing is not nearly as delicate as the aquanaut and nautilus lines. |

I would say…
5726 5711 5167 5164 5212… depends on how you like a leather strap for everyday. Finally… 4947/1a would be awesome as a daily just not poolside I guess
