Watch: 5513 Pre Comex Sub

Hello!
Could Pre Comex 5513 Submariners have Case Serial Numbers that start with "3******" instead of the more "well known" "5******"?
I was wondering this because I saw some posts claiming that some Pre Comex or Comex watches have been made before 1976.

Are Pre-Comex 5513 dials really so much more expensive than other 5513 dials?
If so, why? Is it because of scarcity alone?

Thank you in advance!

No, I don't think they're particularly valuable. Maxi Mk1 seem to be significantly more desirable these days. It's all fairly silly IMO.

Is there anyway you could verify that?
Because when I looked online, there were examples of pre comex dials in a comex case.
I can't post links yet, but there was a bobswatches listing for the case mentioned above.

From what I've gather up, Pre Comex Dials existed since the 2.8 mil serial numbers.
And Pre Comex Dials were used for actual Comex 5513s.

Wait, now I can post links haha.

Please Help! Advice Needed in Verfiying a Pre Comex 5513

Hello! I am planning on buying a pre comex submariner from a friend of mine.
I would like some feedback to double check to see if the watch is indeed the real deal.

Some specific questions I have about this watch are:
1. Out of 10, how good of a condition is it in?
2. The Case serial number starts with a "3", and I was wondering if some Pre Comexs were made in 1974-5.
3. How fair a $13k price tag is for this watch?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you!

That's not a pre-Comex dial. I think it would be worth your time to do some research so that you could answer some of the more obvious questions yourself.
http://www.5513mattedial.com/PreCOMEX.html

Edit: The write-up from Bob's even indicates that it's not a pre-Comex dial.

"It’s also worth noting that this particular watch isn’t what collectors call a “Pre-COMEX” Submariner either. The dials that received the COMEX branding on them have slight variations in regards to their printing that separate them from the other non-COMEX Submariner dials of the era. Consequently, the dials that possess these traits but don’t have the COMEX logo on them are often called Pre-COMEX Submariner watches, but the dial on this particular reference 5513 is not one of those."

They aren't so much sought after compared to maxi ones (and yes that's silly from many perspectives) but they are very cool.

Oh, in that case what version of the 5513 is it?
Also, do you think the dial looks okay?

Maybe I am looking at incorrect sources for knowledge...
Is this a Pre Comex Dial?
I just looked at Bobswatches for references and it looks to be one, but maybe I am wrong?

As one of the other members has suggested - don't ignore it - go to the 5513 website and read. There is a dedicated section on pre-Comex dials so it should be obvious after that.

You also have 3 other running threads on Pre-Comex related matters. Can you please stop resurrecting them and just stick to one thread summarising them all.

I agree, it makes you wonder how some people get through the day. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but the information, as many have stated, is out there.

Please post a photo of the watch. Your links don't work.
