My boss asked me during a meeting when I wore my diver on bracelet, "isnt this watch (I think she recognised the octogonal AP look) very expensive", I told her its about S$20k and she said, "oh so cheap?". I told her that I knew how to get it at lower prices from a grey dealer friend of mine and that I could link her up. Then on I tend to avoid wearing it when meeting her. Haha...

There are a lot of APsin the wild in Hong Kong so the only time I got a comment was in the boutique with my white strap Diver.

I had a ROC for three years, never once asked. In fact the only watches a random stranger asked about in the last 10-12 years that I can remember were my PAM 190 (Rad) and my Big Pilot. Both long gone.

I was sitting in a coffee shop a few weeks back reading my book with my 15400OR on bracelet (while waiting for someone to meet me). Beside me was an old man, probably around 90 years old, with his caretaker and in a wheel chair. He had difficulties getting words out, but out of nowhere, he looks at me says "Nice watch!! AUU DE MARGHS Pee GEH". With perfect pronunciation. I smiled and said "You're right and you must have good taste".

1. When my friends and I had bottle service in Vegas. Doubt she knew what it was but said she liked it .
2. Random guy walking through the airport said nice watch when I was with my friends who wear Hublots
3. In napa from a guy who was with a group of people wearing high end watches. Literally stopped me in my tracks just to say nice watch. I said the same about his Rolex.
4. In LA and NYC people stare but don't say anything, but they know.

Absolutely no one. Not a watch people in general recognize outside of the WIS community. People don't even pay attention to my AP's. But my Rolexes, especially my DD40 in yellow gold attract a lot of attention.

Likewise - never been asked. Which is exactly how many times I would like to be.

I´ve never been asked about my AP in total contrast to my Rolex
Short story that shows the humor in that case.
Few days ago I was at my local gym and talked to a guy I always meet there, but normally we do not have a lot of conversation. After talking about clothing in generel he stated that he is very interested in expensive watches and for sure in Rolex.
He talked a few minutes but he did not notice my AP on my wrist

Once by a rich industrialist one of his companies happen to handle my company's distribution. Other than that I'm occasionally told it's a 'cool looking' watch.

Usually no one notices the watch I am wearing, unless I am in a watch Boutique or shop, then I notice it is the first think the sellers check , I think this will indicate how serious you are or the level of watchman you are. If they see an AP, they will usually flatter you a bit, a part of that, it is usually unnoticed.

This is the harsh reality when owning an AP

No one has noticed my 15400 in Atlanta where I live however right now I am in Southern Spain (Marbella) and I have had a few people comment on it. Even a lady at the supermarket checkout! Also I have seen a lot of people wearing AP's out and about. I guess recognition depends on where you are wearing your AP.

I’ve gotten “is that a Royal Oak?” twice, and one “that’s a cool watch.” It’s definitely not the most low-key watch out there. Not many people know what they actually are, but the way they reflect light makes people more prone to notice it, and my guess is that people have a hunch that it’s something special even if they know nothing about watches. I’ve only had three other comments on watches outside of the Royal Oaks, and I haven’t even had them for a year (11 months for the 15400, 4 for the 15202). I’m thinking about selling the 15400 and going for a 15202OR to keep my 15202ST company, but I’m slightly afraid of the attention it’ll get.

Only twice with my 15202OO. Once while test driving a car and the other while talking to a Petek SA.

Only one time besides watch stores. I was at Jacobs steakhouse in Toronto and an older gentleman said, "nice watch" when I was wearing my 15202. I noticed he was wearing a Richard Mille RM030, and I replied, "thank you, you too."

Just last weekend in Atlantic City. Was at a dance club with my buddies and this 20 something kid comes over and sees my AP and says it's a sick watch. Then he asks me if he could try it on? What? I told him, I would let him try it on if he let's me put him in a head lock. He took off . Didn't seem right.

The local AP AD comes to our GTGs and asks me each time if I’m ready to sell it! That and guys at the GTG are the only time it’s commented on.
