definitely a sub w/ date. its a personal choice of what fits you best, but you can't go wrong with the sub. i don't know anyone who has not liked theirs!

Millgauss was my first and I dont regret it one bit. I prefer the "under the radar" look.

Birthday sub maybe?
The Sub ND 5513 71/72 is a bit cheaper than the red 1680 date!

Sub, no contest. The GV is stunning on the wrist but the clasp on the Milgauss is unforgiveable, especially at the price.

Regards,

Steve.

Rolex Submariner Date gets my vote. It has already become a must have for any Rolex enthusiast.
Personally, if I have one choice over those two watches (Milgauss & Submariner). I go for Submariner.

I'm not planning on ever getting rid of it, and it's something i'll keep 'forever' so it's obviously a big deciosn and a lot of £££ for me to so
i'm after any useful advise i can find :-)

i've been tearing myself up over the last few weeks as to which to go for ...

The money is there to spend but which should i go for .. i think i'm down to a choice of 3 :

Sub no Date - new (why is it so much cheaper without the date ?)
Sub with date - 'slightly pre-owned'
Milgauss - 116400GV - i think this is the ltd edition one ?

i'm sure a lot of you will have to cast your mind back a long time to your first Rolex purchase, but if you can put yourself in my shoes,
which of these would you go for (and can i expect to get one with the £££ i have ?)

Arrrgghhhh !!! so many questions, i've lost plenty of sleep already and i'm driving the mrs crazy ... hope that dipping my toe in this fountain of knowledge will help :-)

Thanks guys !
I am also about to buy my first Rolex, and like you I want it to be a keeper.

I am set on the Submariner, No Date. For me, it is just the exact image of Rolex that I have grown up with, and it is what I have always wanted to own. It looks cleaner without the date, and to be honest I get a bit fed up having to wind dates on at the end of months.

The ND just looks like it will fit into any situation, smart or casual, and isn't too "in your face". I got the call today to say it should be in for me to inspect on Friday. Can't wait....

I guess if you remain undecided between several choices, then a good thing to ask yourself is whether you are more of an outdoor/sport type of guy or not so much. To me the Milgauss just looks very plain and formal, unlike the sporty look of the sub.

I have a Sub no-date and love it, I'm also planning to buy the new Sub-C sometime in the near future however today I just tried on a Milgaus-GV after passing it by many times and you know what? I think it looks better on than both Submariners. With that said, I'm still going to get the Sub-C.

I own both Milgaus LV and sub-c. You really can not go wrong with either. If I could own only one it would be the sub-c. I want another one....

For me DO NOT GET THE SUB NO DATE, the sub c is a much better watch, the no date will leave you wishing you had just spent a bit more money and got the real deal (116610LN). There is a reason that the sub c has 6 month waiting lists and the no date is allways available!!

The no date sub is a classic. But I am biased at the moment, so I say get the Milgauss. I've only had it for a few hours and it has gotten quite a bit of attention from non-watch people.

In between the two Subs I'd go with the no date because it's more original but my preference would be the GV, I like its classy yet sporty look and that green crystal is quite original.

Personally, I see at least 4 people with subs at my local restaurant. The MGV is way more original and it is never mistaken for anything else.
