Ever since I saw my ex boss wearing this, I got the impression that this is a high end rolex model. I could not afford to buy one so I went for sub date instead. I still like it and will get it someday...

With regards to the Dial...not all Rolex's are chronometers, if fact none of the vintage SS Daytona's are.

Mabuhay to all

Greetings to one and all from the PHILIPPINES. Great review and it so happen that we got our daytona s/s the same day jan 22. I been wanting this watch for 3 yrs ago and mastered my courage (without my wife approval) to buy one. Like you, I got a GMT master, T/T submariner, T/T oyster with diamond hour indicator, explorer T/T, and the least is a 1956 winding oyster. Proud to have my daytona and saving to have Milgauss green.
Why do you think, daytona s/s is more expensive than daytona t/t? One thing I know is that, I have to wait three year.

I´m glad you enjoyed the review brkanand!

Hi Edwin871!
Thanks for writting and enjoy your new Daytona. You´ll find it was well worth the three year wait!

I guess SS Daytonas are more popular cause they are more affordable than TT or full gold. Also SS looks more sporty and trendy, I feel.
Anyway, retail prices in AD´s here are allways higher for Tt and gold than SS. I imagine same happens in USA and Europe Ad´s for brand new watches.

May be in the pre-owned market happens what you say, that SS goes higher than TT.
This doesn´t happen here in my Country.

Enjoy your nice collection, and of course your Daytona!
Best cordial regards, Abel

Excellent review and very honest. I collect my new SS Daytona in two weeks (just having the face changed to a white face), I can't wait, I am like an excited child on Christmas eve. I couldn't agree more about the missing date! Guess i'll have to use my Carrera for work and the Daytona for weekends.

Great review. I agree with the center links not being polished, that would look great on that watch.

Hola Victor! Thank you for your question!
I usually rotate use of my watches; may be I use during a whole week, and then change. Anyway, the Sub is my favorite.

I like my Daytona so much, but I find it a little dangerous one to use in my city nowadays (watch robberies are very common and thugs are very expert to detect Rolex, which are considered a premium bounty!), so I prefer using it during week ends and only if I expect to stay at safe places (if you can find one presently in my Country!!).

When I bought it last year, I used it during a whole month! I feel it is one of my most precise Rolex, together with my Explorer I. I may say amazingly exact, with just a minimal difference notable in a couple of weeks.
I don´t use the chronos features, except when cooking my 3 minutes boiled eggs, or just to amaze myself looking at the different hands working!

RSubSS:
Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, I feel that the so called "Proffessional" Rolex line should use all brushed links. Just a personal point of view, of course!
Best cordial regards, Abel.

I really liked the detail review. I have wanted a Daytona for a few years but never really had an opportunity to get one until this December. I got a SS with black dial.
Here are some of the things I wish were different
i. It has to much writing on the dial, looks kind of busy
ii. I wish it had the date, no eyeclops
iii. It be cool to be able to get it with red markers
iiii. The polished part of the bracelet scratches too much, I wish it was just brushed steel.

My white faced daytona is my fav. With that said, i do agree with your comments. However a daytona is unique and a daytona is a daytona - classic and different, subtly so, but different.

Good review, but I disagree about the PCL - I think it fits the Daytona like a glove. It's not meant to be purely sporty - this is an iconic jewelry of a watch.

Also, I don't understand when you mentioned that you have a V serial and you have the old style clasp.... I have a V serial and I have the new style oyster clasp on my Daytona.

Hello Joey:
Sorry for the delay in answering your question.
Yes, my Daytona is a V serial, but it came from the local AD with the old style clasp.
I have been reading through the Forums, and learned that this was a transitional period, and some watches came with the old style, and later they changed to the new one, while on the same V series.
The watch is completely original, as the owner of this Ad is an old friend of mine, and he ordered this watch from the local Rolex offices to sell it to me.

Regarding PCL, I understand that this is a matter of personal taste. I know that some people like it, and some not. I personally like better the old style "all brushed look", and also like better the upper part of the watch case brushed steel, like the old models, and not the shiny look of today.
But this is all personal taste, I know.

I wish you enjoy your Daytona, as much as I do.
Thank you so much for reading, and kind regards, Abel.
