Hand Alignment on Date Subdial - 3940/1

I noticed that the hand on the date subdial was well-centered on the subdial marker at the end of the month, but that alignment has gradually deviated over the past two weeks. I used the pusher to adjust the date to test the alignment throughout the month. The hand seems to be well-aligned from the 22nd-1st but out of alignment from the 2nd-21st. Has anyone else observed this on their 3940 or other PC? Is this an indication that service is needed?

Here are some images to demonstrate:

Mine does this on some months (right quadrant subdial) in the 2nd half of the year, but strangely it wanders a bit throughout the day. Yes it bugs me a little bit however I’m confident a good service (and $2000 :) ) will eventually solve when the time comes.
