Is it just me or am I being too old fashioned by liking the older logo designs to the new one?

Maybe they will stop using the worlds cheapest paint on them. I feel like 80% of BMW's that are a few years old the emblem is completely faded. I've never seen this problem on any other manufacturer.

Very interesting, thank you for the input.
I connect this new logo with a green turn

I sometimes wonder why things change, but eventually get over it and like designs that I didn't like before. Some designers are on track, the change is just a bit hard to perceive at first. For those that know what they are doing, I welcome the new perspective.

They lost their motorsports roots and went upscale/leasing/millennial seeking to sell their untold number of models to gotta have it buyers.

The people on the BMW forum I frequent have lamented this for years and many of them are on there for the off topic conversation, many of them no longer own BMW cars either.

I have owned BMW cars and still own their motorcycle, I echo the sentiment. Over the years I see the subtle moves to cheaper material or designs through the product life cycle updates. Case in point. The newest generation of their best selling bikes, the gs, no longer come with the tried and true Brembo front brakes. They are replaced by Hayes, a lesser and presumably less costly brand.

I like the new BMW badge (and the grilles) - will be interesting to see how it looks on more 'mainstream' models and different colours, and how used in the interior i.e. steering wheels.
The Rolex logo (assuming the coronet) has varied over the years, hence the 'frog foot' and 'Bart Simpson'...

I was going to get a 4 series but the new grill was just too terrible in person. So I bought a 3 series and love it. Even the dealer understood and agreed that the new grill on the 4 series is almost universally disliked. I guess if I lived in Europe, the front license plate would break it up a bit. But that grill is just too big.

I've owned more than a dozen BMW's in my life. Used to be a huge fan. They have completely lost their way IMO. Way too many models, mediocre design, and the grills - don't get me started there.

It seems like a mixed bag, many seem to think they aren't really faster than the old ones, when previously there was a big jump gen to gen.

The supras and their tt "40" and "50" engines do put up good times on dragy.

it a little unfair to Rolex to liken it to BMW, Rolex is more of a Benz than BMW.

Change happens.

That new BM badge, looks like, soft plastic, that would peal off easily.

Loyal BMW owner here on my 4th 5 series. I really don’t understand where the new styling is headed. I guess we’ll find out.

Not all new things are ugly. If you "have to get used to it" it is proof that it is ugly. Anyhow, Audi was probably the first to go nuts with the 'Big Grille' styling.

Look at the grill on the new Hyundai Santa Fe, also crazy big. As one reviewer put it, it's an acquired taste.

What's funny is that their marketing and design departments most likely spent $2,000,000 in salaries and expenses coming up with this.

BMW is in a tough spot - it's been building up to this for a number of years. They've had the highest per vehicle incentive of any manufacturer for almost 9/10 years running now.

Their quality has suffered because of it - simply enough that amount of incentivizing has to come from somewhere. They had an overly robust product line up that lost it's identity along the way as well. They cut corners to produce models that they maybe shouldn't have produced.

The plus is that this could be a sign they are getting back on track and trying to rekindle their brand identity.
