It doesn't seem to have a mark on it so it has more than likely been polished. Maybe a new bezel as well. If polished the bevels were maintained, inside the lugs are sharp, brushing on lugs is correct. Rather than a full polish it might have had surface stuff buffed out and re-brushed. It looks very nice.

I like it. The lugs are fat enough for me. Its an honest watch.
Most of watches offered by dealers are polished before being displayed. The general public likes a shiny watch, not scratched.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to reply. I called the dealer yesterday afternoon, but unfortunately for me it had already sold. Guess you snooze you lose.
I've noticed in the last couple of months since I've been searching for the right 16710, a lot of them are getting snapped up. Not long ago, doing a search on chrono24 for 2004-07 pieces in V.Good condition in the UK would bring up 30 or so, now there's currently only a dozen available. Strange given lockdown and covid. But I guess the search continues for me... |

Sorry you missed it but I did give you your answer one minute after you posted.
The bezel looked unpolished as did the crown guards. I’m sure another nice one will pop up.

Looks really good. I always look at the teeth of the bezel, too, and if you told me they were unpolished I’d believe it. Jump on that fine looking watch!

Falls into the too imperceptible to give a stuff bracket. The box is concerning. It's too old for the watch.

Definitely late use of the wooden type if that's the case. My mistake. Hey if the OP is paying box and papers money he wants the right box!

That said, the watch looks pretty good but clearly does look polished to me. If you do a quick look on watchrecon not only will you be able to get a grasp on the market value for this reference, but you’ll also be able to see how pricing varies for unpolished examples. Additionally if you dig deep enough, you can probably make photo comparisons between polished watches that maintain original shape and chamfers vs polished watches that have clearly been polished, as well as the subtle price differences that go along with them. |

It looks pretty good to me. I just received mine back from service and it looks similar. I would not worry about purchasing it.

I never knew that, is that a factory glitch?

Looks great. There is absolutely nothing wrong with polishing if that’s your preference. I get that we are wis people but the polishing versus no polishing is silly in my opinion. Do what you like.

Advice from polishing experts...
The one thing to consider is whether the dial is service or not.
Read this to get the scoop. Essentially, if it has a holes case and the dial isn’t tritium, it is most likely a service dial (but not always). Read this for timelines about the transitions. http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-...ref_16710.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
