For a contracting black strap I requested the following from my AD....
Colour- 123 Matt Black
There are apparently 3 levels for straps - normal, padded and extra padded. I went for the middle one, the normal one is for the smaller sized dress watches.
Contrast stitching the same colour as the 5712G White Gold Nautilus.

They are not moving fast on the resale market but still above retail. As someone said somewhere when they first came out, it will sell only because of the PP on the dial.

Maybe true. I wonder if that applies to other SS RO, Rolex and other PP ? lol

Many SS Rolex, SS Nautilus and SS Aquanauts are at least double the retail price and still appear to be moving

Does one need to have purchase history in order to get this piece in AD?

Another old thread of a different market than of today. I now see 5212 nearing 70K and the 5320 near 90K. I believe both will continue to climb as they are each highly desirable in their right market hype notwithstanding.

I am indeed surprised by some of the Patek's dress watch price lately. When I got the 5320G, it was trading at about 20% off retail and now it is at par with retail. Same with 5172G. Spillover demand?

Watches in general are subject to increasing demand. The models you mentioned are only produced in small numbers and they were probably way undervalued in the market. It's good to see they are now being more appreciated.

Yeah, the 5212 I'd imagine is extremely low production and quite a rarity in the fact that its a stainless steel Cal...

I honestly believe that this is one of the most interesting references in PP's collection atm. SS highly usable complication at least IMO. I believe this will be a future classic. I also believe these won't have a very long run.

It didn't really blow me away, a premium price with SS case, I thought it was pretty childish for such a high horology brand with the fonts and all. Wearing it back to back with a 5172 and 5320 it was underwhelming.

I love it specifically because it's childish. It's unexpected and doesn't really compete with other pieces in the collection. That said, I recall Mr. Stern saying that it was a risk since his staff was evenly split -- folks either loved it or hated it. I'm curious to see whether the 5212 will expand into different metals/dials, or scrap the handwriting altogether for something more classically Patek.

They are definitely more watch than a 5711 or 5167 (Love both but just stating the fact)

I'm afraid that's not a factual statement - the 5212 has a more complicated module on the same base movement as the 5711. As to whether it is more watch, that will depend on the individuals requirements, if you want a weekly calendar then yes, if you want a waterproof watch then no.
