1978 Rolex Oyster Quartz Stainless 17000 B - Tropical Ghost Dial - NOT WORKING
Available for sale is a Rolex Oyster Quartz Stainless Steel reference 17000 B. This particular example has an interesting look as the aging process has caused the writing to peel off resulting in a neat 'ghost' effect. The serial begins with 553xxxx dating the watch to 1978. Please note this watch is not working and sold as is. We tried to replace the batter though it is still not working. We are unsure of what the issue is. This watch is for someone who knows how to fix these vintage quartz watches. The watch is already being sold under market price to account for the fact it is not working.
Case: 36 mm stainless steel case which shows signs of previous wear. The lugs are nice and thick, these typically come over polished though this one is relatively crisp given the age. Bezel: Original stainless steel bezel which shows signs of previous wear Dial/Hands: Original silver dial in which the aging process has caused the writing on the dial to come off creating a 'ghost' effect. There are some spotting on the dial as seen in the photos. Hands are original and show some signs of aging. Movement: Rolex 5035 quartz movement which is currently not working. We tried to replace the batter though it is still not working. We are unsure of what the issue is. This watch is for someone who knows how to fix these vintage quartz watches. Bracelet/Strap: Rolex Stainless Steel bracelet which shows signs of previous wear. The bracelet has nearly no stretch as seen in the photos.
