Thanks everyone. I will get in touch with some dealers over the next few months to see what they can offer and might look at selling privately. Expect an incoming thread if I go ahead!

Its a tough one for me. I totally understand both the arguments for and against doing the trade.

Personally for me though I don't think I would. I would rather keep a couple of the watches (Hulk & BLNR) and go for a WG Daytona over the Platinum - or add some cash to the mix.

You have to go with your heart though!!

It is a tough call. I have done something similar in the past and over a period of time I went back and added the watches I traded back into the collection. I had the grail and the other watches so I did not exactly follow my plan. If you can skip adding them back and can be a one Rolex man then go for it.

Collections are great, I have several watches, but can only wear one at a time, perhaps for you wearing THE ONE is more important.

Great insights!

I would not make this trade.

IMO the SS Daytona ticks many of the same boxes as the Platinum except for the heft.

You have a great collection there and as Larry pointed out, if you reversed the trade it might be painful to get back what you have.

Don’t get me wrong the Platinum Daytona is a heck of a piece, but IMO not worth what you’re considering as a trade.

This is a tough one that will really come down to how bad you really want this watch. I'd personally do everything I could to keep the Hulk and SD -- I just think those are such iconic pieces that you will eventually want back in your collection. If you were trading in the SS Daytona C and the two GMTs, I think it's a far more sensible trade.

As others have already suggested, I'd recommend selling these pieces individually rather than bundling them together in a single trade.
