I know the OP was joking, but for anyone not knowing, you can have your crown aligned 100% every time, if you want to.
It's just a matter of figuring out when to start screwing the crown, if you do it at the right angle, it will get tight/stopped exactly lined up. If that fails, unscrew, wind it manually to rotate a bit to compensate the error, repeat.

I don't care for it that much, but since I only adjust the SubC every two months or so (for the Date) I tend to align the crown.

Some insists the crown position is permanent no matter which angle u try to screw in it. If it changes each time there's a slight possibility the watch is "damaged".

Yes, it is correct.

Bit of a coincidence, but just an hour ago I noticed my SubC Date was showing "29" as date. It's March 1st.
So I had a chance to retest this. Unscrewed, adjusted date, screwed back. The crown ended up in some random position as usual.

I unscrewed, winded a bit to rotate it and pushed/screwed back in, and after doing this three times and rotating the crown a bit, I managed to have it align to a perfect 12:00 again on the 4th attempt. It's vertical at the point where it is tight enough. Took this photo just now:



So it's perfectly possible if you have some patience. And don't unscrew the crown often - wouldn't bother in that case, but since I only adjust the date every two months or so, it's worth the OCD relief. The crown is not "locked" there as with watches that have a dedicated system for that, but I never have it rotate on its own if it is left tight enough. If you're super active with the watch rubbing against stuff, it's possible some friction might rotate it a bit - doesn't happen to me, tho.

No, that's not the case. Although if the crown is stripped, it might happen too. Mine is new and has zero problems.

The crown alignement is factored by 3 threaded pieces.

1: the crown tube into the case has 2 ends. One that screw to the case and one to the crown.
2: The crown has only one thread beginning. Hard to explain but easy to feel. Unscrew your crown until it is loose from crown tube. Then apply constant light gentle pressure on the crown and turn it counter clock wise. You will feel a little dip and click when you hit the thread beginning, it will always be at the same location when looking at the crown logo on the crown itself.

I use that method for all my watches to know where to align the crown before pushing it in when I am about to screw it. This way you 100% avoid any stress on the threads.

There is no way to play with the end result. Sometimes you are lucky all matches perfectly, sometimes not.

It could be possible to always have it matched but it would imply rolex thread machining in the case start always at the same exact position, same goes for crown tube and crown. Then logo on the crown would also have to be 100% aligned according to machined internal thread.
