Does Breitling have the worst re-sale value?

Was looking for a classic Navitimer (an old flame) and surprised to see MRSP vs. excellent conditon at David SW (selling for less than 50%)

I am in chock - especially when compared to Rolex Terrible value retention, unless you buy used

Their resale isn't great by any means, but they're not alone. Hublot, IWC, Tag...

If you’re worried about resale with Breitling, the Navitimer is going to be your best option to somewhat hold its value.

I would look at grey dealer market and you may find brand new ones for 50% off.

I would say TAG is worse but this is what happens when a brand discounts.

Sadly people who Buy Rolex do not understand this and constantly seek discounts and even feel like they deserve them.

Discounting leads to brand devaluation. Look at Omega as well.

If you think Breitling loses value, look at Zenith... Horrible value retention.

Omega is bad as well. Hard to get a grey market dealer to even take a Omega in on trade as I went through this last year. That said, if you buy your Breitling Pre-Owned, you won’t lose any money. This is what I did and my Breitling Chronomat Black Bird has raised in value the last 2 years.

Exactly !

I bought my Navitimer 01 Limited Edition BNIB from Breitling Boutique, and it was quite expensive considering the Rolex options I could have gone instead.

And the truth is: I couldn't care less ! I bough the Navitimer because it was love at first sight and it's for my joy and use. I'm not planning to sell it and if by any chance I do, I'm very aware that I'll lose money but there are pleasures that money cannot buy. At least for me !

Why lose money if you don't need to?

Tastes change. Circumstances change. Value retentions matter on everything.

Luxury watches, like most luxury cars—the minute you “drive out of the showroom” take a serious depreciation hit.

You can buy a few year old pre-owned to minimize depreciation or buy new and keep the watch for at least 5 years or more and it balances out. This is also true with luxury cars.

Same here, I bought a SuperOcean in as new condition for $1395 a couple years ago. It came with the box, papers, etc. Still had the sticker on back, not a mark on watch. I could sell for more now if I wanted. But the guy I bought from paid like $3300 for the watch.

I will only buy a Rolex new. No reason to buy Breitling or Omega new, it's a suckers bet.

Wouldn't buy Rolex new either.

Like new--used--saves the chance of much lost.

So you wouldn’t buy a new 126710 BLRO, 116500 Daytona white or black new from AD? You’d rather buy used for much much more? Me I’d much rather save the money and get brand new from AD! Why pay massive premiums for used ones when you can get brand new for so much cheaper?
