i would imagine more for a certain subset, but on the other hand you would have to be a pretty hardcore WIS to even notice the difference as im guessing the vast majority have never even seen one of either dial IRL to even compare. They probably just want a 5711 so would they pay more because of it... i doubt it. You also have to consider those who notice and those who its important to probably have good AD connections already. Any excuse to push the prices higher though is what i think it is more than anything.

Supply to greys does seem to be tightening so I imagine prices will rise and discounts will not be forthcoming, they will sit on these longer if they have to. Rolexes they get a steady supply of so they will bargain more to turn them over quicker.

At least in Asia (HK specifically) these are genuine prices and people are buying at around that price. Sellers are hardly budging when I enquire although if there’s money on the table I’m sure there’s probably a bit of wiggle room.

If you can afford it and really want it why wait? The ~USD20k premium is nothing to some people and so what if it goes down a little in the future on resale (if you ever sell). Most you can lose is probably 10k which you can lose in the stock market in volatility on one day anyway!

Always a way to justify a purchase ey?

Pristine watches in London had one, they were asking £38995, it is gone now. I have seen the new blue dial, it is only a small change to the detail but it looks significantly better to me compared to the old blue dial.

That's $52K USD... not as crazy as I thought it would be considering trusted sellers in the US are asking in the 50-52K range for pieces that are out of warranty and quite a few years old.

To me however, that's still about $20K too expensive. I paid far less than that for my 5990 and I have an inkling which one I would take all day, any day.

That’s insane, I love the 5712 but 40k is just way too much IMO, same for the 5711 at 30, really happy I got both for Swiss retail before the increase, not sure I would do it now, seems too much for what it is, you can get some serious second hand watches for those prices

This is insane. The 5711 was going to be my next watch. They were selling for low 30s last I looked. Come back ready to buy and they are all $50k.....wtf!? Looks like I missed the boat.

What is going on in Newport Beach with RG? These guys have the 5711R at £68K or $89K now!!! Esp when the price of their white and blue Nautiluses are fair market.

Lol that's how I feel. But it was like 6 months ago.

It's OK because I bought a 5167 and they seemed to have seen some of the same ridiculous increase, albeit to a lesser degree.

A BNIB 5711 Blue from 2017 listed for £47000, a new high for the 5711A. I still don't know whether the grey dealers are getting those asking prices.

I’ve never known anything like this for a watch in the current collection that’s now 12 years old.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the 5711 is discontinued. Will we see a lot being sold to get the newer model, if there is one?

And if there isn’t a new entry level replacement?

That's a good way to see it. Life is short and 20K is probably not a lot of money to people that can afford multiple luxury watches. BTW, out of curiosity, how much is it going for in Hong Kong?

Wow... £68K. Speechless... Will be interesting to find out if they can actually sell at this price.

Yeah, I would say the price is crazy but we've been doing that for many months now and each time they have moved higher so I suspect this will be the market price in a couple of months, barring a world war.

Grey 5711 prices seem to be the same worldwide (including HK) at around USD/CHF 50-53k

Wow. Did they not just have one for £52,500? I was under the impression they were not that hard to obtain because of the price point, but with prices like that I'm sure it'll just continue to fuel demand from flippers and speculators.

Speaking for myself, seeing these prices makes me nervous about wearing mine. I already thought it was scary wearing a watch that passed the $50K Canadian mark... now at the current exchange rates we're getting close to $100K Canadian. That's an insane amount of money on the wrist at one time.

i feel the same way. I don't like a large insurance gap between retail and secondary, as replacing it would be out of the question so its the spread that makes me hesitant as well.

It just makes it easier to justify spending so much on a watch

Yes, they’ve got 2 now. The 2018 model is at £54,500. I think you’re right about flippers and speculators. I guess below a certain amount any profit isn’t worth the hassle of selling and having money tied up. Once it becomes worth it demand increases, wait times go up, prices go up, and on it goes.

I would just wear and enjoy

Wow... I guess I am putting my new 5711-1R into the bank safe for protection. LOL!

That said, this kind of feel like the financial equivalent of an asset bubble. Wonder how long this can goes on.
