[IDENTIFY] Tudor Prince Oysterdate - can't find info

Hi all,

I have a Tudor watch which my late father owned from new. It is a Tudor Prince Oysterdate. I've been trying to get info on it, and found many very similar watches, but none the same as this. I found a site that listed all serial numbers and corresponding years, but this serial sequence wasn't listed? From what i can read (the band has worn into the engraving), it is a model 7966 with serial 578684 (i think?). Is anyone able to reveal any info on this model, how rare it is, what year etc? It's in a lot better condition than it looks in the pics, works perfectly and i wear it daily. It holds very special meaning for me. It was purchased and is located in Australia. I'm guessing mid 60s?

From what i can find, serial "570,000" is 1967, but this is "578,xxx" so i'm confused :P. A site which had a decoder on it claims it's a 1968 - but i'd still be interested to know its rarity.

Not that rare. In the late 60s, the 7966 was one of the most common references. Great little watch OP

Tudor serial numbers have never been truly decoded, but there are good estimates. I’d put that one in the 1960s, maybe earlier than 1968.

These Tudors aren’t considered particularly rare. But they are great vintage watches, rock solid runners, nice size and nice to wear. Yours looks in good condition.

You are lucky to have this heirloom; enjoy it.

Small rose production ended in mid to late 1968 so this will date just before that. Your estimate is correct for being 1967/1968

The table you are looking at is not indicating that every watch made in 1967 has the same 570,000 serial number, if that's what you are confused about. Every watch has a unique serial number.

1967, 34MM Oyster. Nice & understated dress / everyday watch from Tudor. Roughly comparable to a Rolex Date 34mm.

Rather common = value around 1200-1600 USD
