OMEGA SEAMASTER Chronograph Automatic 2599.80
I am new here, this may have been covered however i could not find any info on this. I have the OMEGA SEAMASTER Chronograph Automatic 2599.80 All the models that i have seen have red hands on the stop watch functions, mine are white. Can someone tell me if i have an older model or what is up. Thanks for your time and experience in advance.

Are they white, or is there a faint bit of red or orange on them? The 2599.80 was known to have subdial hands that were originally red to orange in colour, but faded drastically to the point where some are almost bone white, much like the Explorer 2 Orange hands that people call "albino". I don't have any real explanation for it, and as far as I know, the later version of your watch that I own, the 2225.80 does not have the same issue, nor do the later 2599.80's, so I'm guessing yours has seen a fair bit of age and use.
The last production of the 2599.80 was I believe in the early to mid 2000's with a gap before 2225.80 production began in early 2006, so your watch is likely 5 years old at the very least, and from memory they were released around the time of the non-chrono version's release, between 1993 and 1995, so the age is likely between 6-16 years, so yes you do have an older model. That said, aside from the faded subdial hands, these watches are stronger than about any other chronograph on the market, and have an expected service life on par with the submariner, with equal durability, so the age matters very little. With respect to the 2599.80 vs the 2225.80, the differences are: 2599.80: Seamaster in White Omega logo in White Non-applied indices Indices at 12, 9, 6 and 3 Seamaster logo on back in middle of wave pattern Flat caseback Shorter hands Seconds hand tip and subdials may fade Warmer blue dial and bezel insert 2225.80 Seamaster in Red Omega logo applied White Gold Applied White Gold indices No Indices at 12, 9, 6, and 3 Larger scale Seamaster logo on back with no wave pattern Tapered caseback longer hands Seconds hand tip and subdials do not fade Cooler blue dial and bezel insert I may have missed something, but that's as much as I know. |

What you've said is pretty accurate. My 2599.80 is currently on my wrist, and the hands are indeed now a orangey-white!
