See where it ends, and yes, that is a sign of where the market is heading

Serious bidders won't get involved until the last minute (or seconds) before the auction ends - the winning bid will be substantially more than $8k.

But the seller will have to pay $750 ebay final value fee + another 2.9% to PayPal.

Although only one data point, this particularly watch's selling price will be very interesting.

Those Ebay and PP fees are killers when it comes to high ticket purchases- normally around 13% for non auction items

Most of the people selling Rolex on ebay are likely going to have anchor store subscriptions. This caps the final value fee (FVF) at $300. So their fees will come out much much lower than 13%.

Well, that escalated quickly! From no bids to $9,300 in one hour.

Are we gonna get a separate thread for every piece listed anywhere now?

Why even post this? eBay is a complete game. They know what they ‘want’ and when it doesn’t get there. They cancel the listing. Period.

Yeah, ebay fee is 10% of final value, capped at $750 or $250 if you have a "store".

You're only supposed to be able to end one auction early per year and receive forgiveness. At more than once per year doing this, the seller is responsible for paying the final value fee based on the max bid for the item at the time the auction was pulled.

Interesting, I didn’t know that. Is this a new rule or has it been in place for awhile now?

And all you have to do is have someone else (or a few people) raise the price continually - if it got too close to the edge. There are ALL kinds of ways people get around this. Which is why I don’t use eBay.

That's the exact same watch sold for $15,500 plus shipping at watchuseek ..

https://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs...o-5156781.html

Always nervous with those short closing eBay auctions lasting no more than a day in total .. Could be that the seller is really in hurry for money or just a hacked profile and a hassle to get your money back for the next 20 days ..

and do we think that 1 random ebay listing even if it completes, 1 data point, is going to set a market price for one of the most popular watches in the world?

Don't worry, the seller will salt the hat and make sure he doesn't lose it for anything under market value.
