Buying a 5167 Aquanaut

Hi,

Long time lurker, still with much to learn .

Seeking advice regarding Aquanaut purchase.

I'm ok buying outside of an AD and paying premium.
What resource would you advise? Chrono24 seems like the most likely place I was able to find. Any others?
Want the watch new, with box papers. Is their designation of 0 (unworn/new) typically accurate?
Probably means buying from a jeweler with a track record rather than individual private seller?
Some of the listings show the watch still sealed in a plastic bag in a small paper box, does this mean it has "not seen the atmosphere since the factory" new?
Also, any sellers you would particularly recommend?
Chrono24 charges the seller 4.5% fee, since I live a short drive of several of the sellers is it worth pursuing a discount on the 26,000-30,0000 (ouch) fee?

Thanks in advance.

id buy a 5164 at retail from an AD. Paying a premium for a second hand 67 is just silly.

There is no such thing as double sealed anymore so if you are buying one it has either been sitting for a while or the seller is re-sealing a watch to make even more money off of it.

Thanks for response.
5164 seems to be scarce too.
Like 5164, but love 5167!

Yeah / no maroon shipping box any longer and I didn’t even get the large outer box, even that is held back these days

OP - I also vote 64

I would entertain like new in this crazy market. Bill WAK4 just sold his for around 22k asking which would have been a great deal.

New unworn in UK is only £3/4K below retail of the 64 so I'd think hard before buying a 67, 64 is def the better value now at retail.

The trusted sellers here have very accessible references and several have NIB offerings.

OP wants a 67, best option is buying as complete a set as possible from a trusted seller. I’d avoid Chrono24, peruse the sale forums and one will pop up. There’s a premium but there’s a reason for that. Everyone wants one. I’d steer clear of the 64 if that’s not what you want.

Looking forward to some input

This week I put myself on the waitlist for 5167 on bracelet at two different ADs. One said it wouldn’t be too long. And another said 6-8 months. One required a 20% refundable deposit.

I dont care for the bracelet version but that may be a way around a big wait and then just get the rubber strap and clasp through HSWA or the AD. It will be cheaper than secondary prices
