For a Sub, I MUCH prefer ND. It’s truer to the 1953 original and is so bloody beautiful (symmetry is perfect)...

If I need to know date (and 2nd/3rd TimeZone) I have my GMT...

The date version is actually larger, and I'm surprised how rarely that gets mentioned. Here’s a pic I took at The Hour Glass in Singapore in 2014 when making the decision between the two.

To me, the size difference was really significant – just look at the case height difference between the two. Part of this may be exaggerated by the angle of my picture, but there’s still definitely a difference.

On my wrist, I really noticed the difference – so I went with the no date. They’re obviously both amazing options, but for me personally, the clean look of the ND was hard to beat, and looking at it never gets old. I have the cyclops on my polar 16570, and love that one too, so I don’t think you can go wrong if deciding between the two.

Hope this picture helps, so much for ever getting to see them side-by-side in a store again anytime soon. In 2014 in singapore, they had everything in stock (hulk, batman, you name it), and they’d throw in a 10% discount without you even asking for it. Now I’m on a never-ending waitlist for the two pieces I want…

Anyone else know the actual size difference in mm’s?

I have both, and a caliper... and I can’t see any truth to your statement?

Me too and you're right. Same thickness as well. On my wrist I feel the Sub Date is heavier but when I use a scale both weight the same.

I actually wish it was true... my wrist is small, on the verge of too small for the sub-c.

I hear you. The 14060M is perfect for my chicken wrist so in terms of size it's the perfect watch for me. But I can't say it's my favorite. Love them all but the 114060 is the one I wear the most.

I like the proportions of my 5 digit, but hate the bracelet. And the 97200 looked weird when I swapped it on.

The 5 digit now resides strictly on a NATO strap and in my scuba bag.

Thanks for the measurements but honestly it’s all about how it fits, feels and looks on the wrist

Very helpful, thank you. Can you also do case thickness - top to bottom?

They’re both 12.7mm.

My vote went to the Submariner. As other members have stated, I have a GMT as well if I feel the need to have the iconic cyclops/date.

I wanted a daily that wasn't a unicorn. Already have a date complication in the GMT, but the main reason why I wanted no date was the symetrical dial. And over $1000 cheaper. It's a no brainier. And a great watch.

I sold my SubC no-date then bought the SubC with date.

Like many of you I like the look on the no-date more but the convenience of having a date function won for me.

For basic and less expensive entry level sub, I will choose a sub no date.

Lmao. He may be right, the demand for Sub date is higher, especially in countries like Japan, Korea. Well the fake watch makers really know the market and the statistics well.

i prefer a date. eventually i’m sure i’ll add a ND on a strap for camping and such, but until then it’s helpful for me to know what date it is, and i often leave my phone in the office when i’m on the sales floor. although it has gotten easier to deal with since i’ve been wearing a daytona and a no-date panerai a lot in the last year or so.

After spending 18 months with a Explorer as my daily watch I purchased a ND Sub. One advantage is if it runs down you don’t have to mess with getting the date correct just the time.
