Likely hold for a little while
understandable one cannot simply load up on white bread lol

I will likely have to nix the combat diver with this purchase.

really annoying. they should really release the write-up and the photos at least a couple of days before the actual drop. it wouldn't hurt the hype but would make the whole thing so much more user friendly.

I think the watch is great btw--have tried on the 38mm FF and liked the case but not the dial. not sure how I feel about the rotor saying hodinkee on it (as opposed to just the outer rim of the case or whatever) but a really cool watch I think.

Possibly so. But if it can finance another watch then so be it.

seems to available at certain blancpain boutiques too...

Introducing a new, limited edition dive watch manufactured by Blancpain for HODINKEE. Pieces are numbered, and available exclusively in the HODINKEE Shop and select Blancpain boutiques.

Yeah I noticed that. Makes me wonder how many the 'Dink got. Half? 75%?

Sadly I hesitated too long. When I finally went through checkout it was sold out. I really like the watch but it is almost criminal to do these drops and expect people to make a 60 second decision to buy a nearly $10,000 watch

So, my 10K was safe! Much prefer the Kuda to this. That said, that's a lot of watch for 10K vice the 14K for the Kuda. I am not a huge fan of 38MM watches, so it was out for me from the start, but for people who like smaller watches its a great look at a decent price for the movement and level of finishing.

I think current 40MM LE holders won this morning, and folks looking for a killer small diver also won. So everyone wins.

Yes I have tried on the 38mm also. I like small watches and this wears really small like almost too small but some of that might be the tiny hour markers which the Hodinkee version doesn’t suffer from. I bet there will be some people unpleasantly surprised with the sizing of they have not tried one on before

That's my point. By multiple measures, the bathyscaphe and FF are better watches, but they don't say "Rolex" on the dial. This bathyscaphe is worth every bit of a sub (bracelet or not).

Yep (though I do love a good bracelet).

What a disappointment. A 50 Fathoms without the crystal bezel isn’t a 50 Fathoms.

The sapphire bezel is a modern addition to the standard FF and the bathyscaphe is a separate line with its own design cues.

Realy like the piece but Blancpain and sizes they will never get it.
FF in 45mm to big
FF LE in 40mm to small
Bathy 43 to big
Bathy 38 to small.

FF in 42mm and the Bathy in 40mm so anyone with 6,5 to 7,5 can wear them. Is it realy that complicated.

Exactly this. The regular FF should be 42mm.

Blancpain just sold more 38mm Bathyscaphes in 2 minutes than it probably has in the last 2 years.
