Shortage of SS...

DJ41’s? Lol

I ducked into lux bond &green yesterday in Boston. Not only were their cases empty. But they told me that Rolex has not allowed them to order and DJ41 SS models. They had none.

Insane

Separately. He told me the P-01 demand is through the roof.
I realized that the p-01 is long like the RIchard Milles and it wraps around the wrist... so excited

The only local AD in my area with two stores told me that they just received new display case inserts with fewer slots that make the cases look less empty. It's here to stay!

Does this include both smooth bezel (SS only) AND fluted bezel with all SS bracelets? Or just the all SS models?

Shortage of SS...

Based on the insanity a- in terms of demand - only makes sense that it will creep into other models in the lineup....I.e the DJ.

I do agree though. I think it is an unsustainable strategy - but who knows. As I mentioned in another thread - if this is the ‘new way’ - when do the ADs start dropping the brand in mass overall - and moving on.....to brands they can readily supply to their customers...

I’ve been starting to wonder if as part of their strategy is to reduce overall production numbers as well- but with that - I would expect to see a price increase....

Who knows.

I believe everything over 40mm is becoming an allocation piece. Anyway, that's the way it is at my AD.

Someone I knew place a deposit for 41mmDJ with blue dial with flute bezel since March of this yr and he still has not get it. My AD receive those new wave insert with no slot as well as less display slot insert.

Either we are seeing a massive reduction in any model or massive price increase. Or, Rolex predicts the massive recession that my financial advisor told me and does not want people to sell their pieces to cash in because it is hard to get.

Demand is up for this piece because no other stainless models are attainable right now.

Personally the 41 is too big anyway. I like the new 36.

That’s where I bought my Submariner and Explorer from (Boylston Street location). Obviously, that was several years ago, and remember seeing full cases.

I agree with your assessment Roger. Feels like it's a way of pushing some AD's to stop carrying Rolex. Maybe a move to become a bit more exclusive. The AD's are pretty much everywhere.

Lol I was on my way back home from the New RM store. Its really cool in there.

Walking into the 2 stores back to back is like night and day.

My kid wants to know why the lux and bond store smells.

I suspect the production of the SS DJ 41 has been cut back, I doubt demand has spiked so sharply on these. This to me sounds like pure marketing by Rolex. Worked on the sports so do it across the entire line and folks who want a Rolex will have to buy the wider margin TT and PM watches. Money makes the world go round.

That sounds very feasible to me.
Would make sense.

Where is that thread about DJs being looked down upon? Anyone need more evidence?

that coupled with starting to reduce overall production numbers is the only thing that makes sense from a business perspective to me.

Sounds like people buying up anything with the crown on it to me, the mania for SS has spilled over into Datejust 41. Classic bubble formed and ready to pop.

I honestly can’t wait for it to pop too.

Smart choice mikimoto can get damn pricey. Of course so can the earful you are bound to receive when she actually sees the p01. What is this strap? It isnt plastic and isnt leather. It is the spam of straps!!!!

Rolex is re-developing Tudor... is a reason I could think of why Rolex has become less accessible.

In addition, I am not sure for Rolex, but the true limiting factor in watch production is the movement allocation... often the allocation of movements need to be done around one year ahead
