Incoming - SMP 300m white dial

Been waiting a while on this one after first seeing it in the flesh in 2019. After a long 2020 (for everyone) the stars aligned and I finally pulled the trigger today.

Initial impressions after my first day:

On my 7” athletic (yet skinny) wrist 42mm wears surprisingly well. Unless you have tiny arms this should work for you as the modern diver proportions are well balanced.

The wave design is, of course amazing (frickin’ lasers!) and on the white dial it is subtle and classy. You barely notice it’s there but when the lights hits it right, oh boy *chef’s kiss

The HEV. What HEV. I barely notice it.

I got it on the bracelet as it’s the cost effective option, but ordered the rubber as it will be my “A” option for wearing it as a daily, do-it-all companion. Until then I plan to enjoy the fantastic build quality of the bracelet (no, the edges are not too sharp) and use the excellent adjustable clasp. As for the lack of taper, it’s a non-issue, on wrist you don’t notice it.

Anyways, I know there are plenty of similar reviews of this watch so apologies for the redundancy, but as I researched my purchase over the last year I appreciated every chance to read someone else’s unique point of view.

In conclusion: if you’re even mildly interested in the SMP 300m, SEE IT IN PERSON. Don’t let YouTube or the internet hive mind mentality of this watch’s perceived flaws (HEV, skeleton hands, lack of taper) persuade you. It’s truly stunning and once you get it on wrist you’ll see a dive watch doesn’t need to say “Submariner” on the dial to be worth your attention.

Thanks for reading.

Congratulations, I have the same watch and came to pretty much the same conclusions especially with regard the negative fuss some folk have been making about the bracelet having said that this watch does IMHO look better on the rubber strap so I should probably order one at some point.

Congratulations. A great watch and one that I own and will not move along anytime soon. I liked the black and white contrast when it was introduced and find the pictures amazing. But they do not do the watch justice as it is even better looking in person. I find the bracelet to be great also. I get the no taper discussion and while I personally do like a slight taper it is also nice to have a bracelet that is Omega and the Sea Master. I have ordered the rubber strap for mine and when it gets here mid week I am going to wear it for a while on the strap. Enjoy.

Congratulations! Wow so many white SMP incomings lately. It's such a terrific watch and looks so amazing the first time you see it in person. The white dial with black bezel really pops. Omega hit a home run with this piece.

Congrats - one thing that is rarely mentioned is its unbelievable legibility.

I agree with the bracelet sentiment too. While I’d prefer a taper, it’s still quite good, and I like the micro adjust better than the glidelock.

Wear in great health!

Congratulations on the new piece! It looks great on your wrist. I bought the same one in December and I haven't gone too many days without wearing it. I alternate between the bracelet and rubber strap, creates two totally different watches.
Enjoy every second....

Thanks! I definitely followed along as you got yours and started sharing some great pics. Rubber is still on the way but looking forward to swapping back and forth

I went through my local AD but the OB closest to me said they could order and ship no problem. Seems the backlog on these has caught up

Looks great. I have it in blue and got a rubber strap on ETSY. Find the bracelet is comfortable and easily adjustable. Wish they had the same bracelet on my new speedmaster which isn't comfortable. I bought a beautiful leather band for it and like the look better. Enjoy.
