Hi, newbie here, was looking for some advice and possibly a valuation on a watch I purchased on the weekend. Any help would be much appreciated

Looks like a typical Rolex from the Teens to me.
If the case is silver, it will typically have silver hallmarks that will give you the exact year. Usually low jeweled. |

This watch was the typical style during WWI.
The only military "issued" watches I have seen from this era are marked Signal Corps on the dial. I know Omega, Zenith, Moser and others made them. I have never seen a Signal Corps Rolex. Most soldiers purchased their own watch for WWI, unlike WWII. So, it was certainly possible that it was used in WWI, just no proof that it did. When I first got into watches 25+ years ago, I only heard the term "trench watch'' refer to watches that had a metal gaurd over the crystal. It now seems to be used for any watch of this style. (Nickel case, wire lugs and pocket watch movement.) If you take a photo of the inside of the case, there should be a hallmarked letter, that will indicate what year the watch was produced. |

Likely a Rebberg movement. Very tough to source parts for. They either run great or not at all. The desirable ones are 13 ligne size.
If you can open it we can go further. |

That regulator is in a dangerously wrong position.
Yes Rebberg movement. Later version signed Rolex. Looks to be in reasonably nice condition for it's age. Can you give an idea of the diameter of the movement in MM? |

Your photo is just a little blurry.
There should be a shield with a letter like the "c" shown in the photo. Top left? Dates c=1918 b=1917 a=1916 u=1915 t=1914 s=1913 |
