Incoming: Untouched RED 1680

These days, you hardly ever see em. Untouched reds...

Recently, I had an opertunity to purchase one from Andrew Shear. It came from a private collector that must have had it tucked away in a safe for god knows how long? Hands down the nicest example I have ever seen, had to have it no matter the cost.

Andrew had gotten it in and must have had it in his hands less than 24hrs before it was sent to me. I didn't want to risk missing the opportunity, so I didn't take long to think about it.

The chamfers are razor sharp. The dial is a mk5, patina is an amazing creamy yellow perfectly matching all around. Insert is jet black and as new. Original twinlock crown, misspelled divers extension. The cornet on the clasp is so crispy, never polished. Previous collector had this piece fitted with a superdome crystal and so happy he did, because it saved me the trouble of having one fitted.

Special thanks to Andrew Shear for being such a valued dealer to the vintage community and for always seeking out the very best examples in the world and making them available to us enthusiasts!

Just thought I would share this one with all of you. Have a great weekend

What a beauty!

That is the best red 1680 I've seen in a loooooonnnggg time!

The 39 supermodel is a bit overkill IMHO but I personally only think they look proportionate on a 1665. A T19 would look more appropriate IMHO.

But again fantastic Red SUB! Huge congrats!

Best example I have seen. Beautiful watch. Personally, I dig the super dome.
Huge congrats

Beautiful!! Congrats! Andrew gets amazing examples.

I've never seen factory chamfers that wide, but that doesn't mean it's been polished. My guess is that maybe there were some slight variations back in the early- mid-'70s. Here's another 1680 said to be unpolished.
