Buckle for 1803 Day-Date
I've been looking for an era correct OEM Rolex 16mm buckle for an 1803 I have - it did not come with the original buckle. My 1803 dates from the late '60's.
Any help would be appreciated to verify from the markings on the underside whether this buckle looks correct? Also wonder if the original buckles had an 18k hasp pin? This one clearly has a 16mm SS pin. Thanks in advance...

Most would say that with the strap it isn't important. Consider getting a bracelet.

I'm in the same boat. Been looking for one for my 18038 for about a year with no luck. I'd be more than happy with a good condition 18k plaque one.
I've never been able to find a chart or any sort of post with pics of authenticated markings for strap buckles. I've seen dozens of FS ads for them and by no means an expert but based on your photos I'd pass. Here's a couple I believe to be ok for reference (again just kinda sorta based on a hunch). First one is sold, second is available but not great condition http://www.network54.com/Forum/20767...6gt%3B%26gt%3B http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-ROLE...UAAOSw9GhYcX-2 I think that @crowncollection is a bit of a guru on these things so I'm hoping he chimes in to help Also I asked my AD about the possibility of ordering one and the response I got was (insert crazy AD story here) no. |

Thanks everyone and will let this one pass by. David, you confirmed my thought that the pin was gold back in the day.
I did have an 18038 on a bracelet - and flipped it because I didn't wear it enough. The weight was more than I wanted. But this 1803 has been working fine for me on a strap. It came as a head w/SS springbars. Wore it for a good while before putting more $$$ into it. Was able to get new Rolex gold springbars at just above cost. But finding a buckle has been a chore. I was wanting to get it to full fitment condition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
