I still think this is an authentic Rolex insert... just wouldn't pay money for it though!! Did a quick scan over at Jaceks and dug up this one,

It looks good to me.

The basics if I'm wrong sure someone will tell me.

i) The insert is stiff and not bendy like an aftermarket
ii) The 22 is not hooked in any way.
and the bottom of the 2's generally follow the inner curve of the insert.
iii) The 4 is not flat nosed or pointed. The flat part of the 4 should be the hight of the bottom bar, a bit difficult to explain.
iv) There is a distance between the 1 and 8 of 18.
v) The colour break does not go through the 8 but I have seen some that do.
vi) There aren't just random serifs.
vii) the digits should nicely fill the width of the insert so there shouldn't be a big gap between the top of the number and the outside curve edge of the insert.

That's my idiots guide anyway sure I've missed something about the triangle generally smaller on older inserts and small oval tops to eights, snowmen 8s on newer inserts.

I vote for genuine stuff, artificially faded, roughly around 1982
