Why Does A Mechanical Watch Make Noise While Worn?
Recently I got very interested in automatic / self-winding watches. I've noticed that the cheaper models often make a lot of noise, both ticking and rotor swings. Now I'm wondering if that's normal and what level of noise is "acceptable" for an automatic watch. I there for example a method to tighten everything up?

Not just cheap watches can make some noise, some of the highest end brands do as well. Some noise is normal, you are dealing with moving parts after all, and metal moving against metal. Also watches aren't like automobiles that are insulated for sound.
Yes, some noise is normal, noticeable noise in cheap watches is normal.

Lots of things factor into it. Case material, case thickness, design, etc. as pointed out, these are mechanical pieces and as such you'll hear metal knocking or sliding against each other.

"Acceptable level" would depend on a persons hearing and tolerance, no other way to answer.
