Tudor 79270, should be easy to find within the stated budget. And with the raised rotating bezel and slightly thicker case than the Daytona it should wear bigger with more wrist presence.

The Autavia seems to fit the bill but it seems either out of stock or not available. One AD said 29th Dec but some of you guys already have one? Plus how thick is it?

It's only now slowly becoming available at official TH boutiques around the world so make a booking! The thickness is 15.6mm; lug width 21mm but surprisingly the watch actually wears smaller than you think...This is the non LE reverse panda Autavia 2017 version but dimensions are exactly the same like a LE JH85

So good to hear everyone's opinion. The Tudor BB chrono actually looks great on my wrist but the Autavia just that but more so. If I could find the JLC of like that too! The Autavia was available on 4 years 0% too so that helped.

Here’s my Speedmaster Co-Axial 44.25mm on leather:

It splits wrist time with my GMT2 16710 BLRO.

After about a year of debating this is what I finally purchased. Watch has ceramic center links and bezel.

The sub and gmt are 40 but they wear bigger, why does the Daytona look so small?

No Omega Speedmaster professional as I want an automatic, the other speedmasters are way too thick!

Don't want to spend crazy money so under 5k
I don't love the Daytona either......much lovelier chronographs out there....have you taken a look at the Brellum? About 42mm.....and COSC,

https://www.brellum.swiss/en/shop/duobox/chronometre/

Also, this piece of wrist art. 44mm I think.

Welcome to enlightenment.
I just dont get the Daytona hype..

I suggest an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph or Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph

You will thank me later

There are many great Chronos out there. Tudor and Omega are my favorite alternates to the Daytona. Both of those boast Date complications in addition to the Chronograph which to me make them more useful.

Here are my three; I truly like the new Co-Axial Mark II as a perfect remake of the '69 Mark II both of which are shown below. The New one aside from the added date (hidden by the minute hand) also has an illuminated tachymeter ring and adjustable bracelet with mechanism much like the Subs glidelock.

Also shown is my Tudor GranTour Chrono which is also made with a flyback movement.

That's a beautiful dial!

What about the Zenith 1969 re-edition? Comes in 38 mm:

and in 42mm:
