Do you wear a watch on the right arm? If so, why?
Would like to hear personal thoughts or reasons referring to the why.
Thanks! |

Left-handed people do. It's called #thewrongwrist for a reason, though!

I'm right handed and don't really remember when I started wear watches on my right arm but after this many years I'm not about to change. It has unfortunately caused a few cheaper watches to 'wear out' more quickly over the years because they're on my dominant wrist.

I'm a lefty and have always worn my watch on my right wrist.
Based on a similar thread awhile back, I took it off my right wrist and put it on my left for a few minutes. It felt like my pants were on backwards. It quickly went back where it belongs. |

On heavier watches, having it on the right prevents the crown digging into the top of my hand. Hublot diver 4000m for example

Can you explain why you wear a watch on your left arm?

Because I am left handed and the watch feels natural on the right wrist. BTW, for those who said that this annoys them when they see this, really?? There are many other things people do that annoy me than where they wear their watch!!

I always assumed it was so that one could adjust the time easily without having to take one's watch off. Before the advent of automatic, one could also wind it without taking it off.
I am in the camp of "whatever feels comfortable is right."

I'm right handed, but have always worn my watch on the right wrist even as a kid. For whatever reason it just wasn't comfortable on the left side. Once I wore bigger watches the crown digging into my wrist was an additional discomfort. I do scratch my bracelet more at work from writing and computer mouse operation, but that's ok. Whatever is comfortable is my thing not whether your dominant hand should dictate where you wear a watch. Aloha to all, Tim

what I've never quite understood are the people who wear their watches with the clasp side up. most say that they are doing so in order to protect the watch crystal...it doesn't make sense if you have ever seen the countless/minor scratches that the bottom of a watch bracelet & clasp incur.

I first can speak for my GF, who does wear a Rolex.
When she was in first grade and the kids got her first watches, one had the idea that they all (a group of five) could wear the watch on the right to be different. So my GF putted it right too. Now, 20 years later she still wears it right, but now she has a Rolex. In fact her friends also still wear a watch on the right. And yes I wear mine right too. I once asked my GF why she wears right and she told me that she moved her watch to the right after a few days. And I was like "Why not try it out" I quite liked it and decided to keep it right like my GF. We are both right handed. |

Back in school I got a skin rash on my left wrist from the cheap plastic watch I had, so moved it to the right until it got better. The right side never got a rash so the watch stayed that side. Like it's been said above, it just feels wrong on the left now. The only times I wear a watch on the left are taking wrist-shots with an slr or diving and wearing 2 watches. |

Left handed and always wear on left wrist. Sometimes for fun will wear on right but only for short time as feels and looks awkward to me.

My wrists are slightly different sizes so in the cool of the morning its on the left wrist and as it warms up I will switch to the right wrist.

Sometimes the watch is a bother on the left. So I switch it over to the right.

Wrong-wrist wearer here because I'm lefty.
Just curious if those who wear their watch on their left wrist, do you actually wind it without taking it off?
