How tight do you wear your watch?

I recently took out a link in my 5711, it's a pet peeve when the watch rolls around my wrist, but now it's like so tight to a point it's strangling my wrist, but good news no more wrist rolling around action. I am trying this method for a week and see how it goes. If it continues to be an annoyance I will have to go back to the AD and add the link back.

I believe Patek makes a 1.5x link. I have an AP and ended up solving the problem with a 1.5x link. In general, I like to wear my watch tight but not to the point that it leaves a deep mark on my arm

Thank you for this reply, I will give HSWA a call for that 1.5 link.

I mean my watches with leather straps have the same tightness level I suppose, so I will try this steel tourniquet for a week. I called HSWA, they have no 1.5x link in stock currently.

Please let us know how much a 1.5 link costs.

Thanks!

I think it’s like $225 - it’s a must for my 5711

I like to be able to just sneak a pinky finger under the clasp.

I don't know if you remember I think JJ Irani had a thread about this many years ago. God Bless his soul, he said if you can't fit the index and middle finger under your clasp then it's too tight. To him.

Rule of thumb for me is being able to sneak an index finger between bracelet and wrist.

As it's gotten colder, my watches have gotten much looser. My 5167 fit perfectly back at the end of August, now it's so loose it travels about an inch and a half down my wrist when I put my forearm up. Don't want to cut another notch from the strap as it'll probably be too tight for the summer.

I got lucky with my RG 5711 and my DD2, both of these really should come with half links, esp in PM.

Only solution (i have found) is to have a strap for summer and a one notch shorter strap for winter...like summer and winter tires for your car. The friendly people in the Patek Salon swap the straps for me every spring and autumn.

I was a lurker for 2-3 years before joining but that’s one I missed.

That sounds a bit loose for me but hey JJ isn’t here to defend his post god rest his soul

In the UK it’s is tough I find. At this time of year I walk out of the house to cold and it becomes loose, get in the hot office and it’s tight again! My arm changes size drastically and I’m not joking! I love the glidelock for that! DJ I have kind of average (!!) but when I went abroad in the summer I needed the 5mm extension.

I like the pinky finger under the clasp idea. That is a good fit for me. The index finger would be too loose.

I use the 1.5 link on my 5711 and it was the answer to my problems. Still some play but being to tight is so uncomfortable and if you bend your wrist the clasp opens.
