Recently I've been looking for a dress watch to add to work in tandem with my Explorer. I came across this GS and it changed everything. Really love this.

I probably haven't been this "hooked" on a watch since I decided to buy my Explorer. I do have a couple of questions/concerns.

First, is there any rubbing of straps against the edges of the case? Looks like somewhat of a snug fit in some pics I've seen. Have owners noticed any damage to their straps forming so far?

Second, in some of the videos I've watched in certain light there appears to be quite a bit of yellow in the dial color. How much of that are you noticing on a daily basis? On the flip side the 253 appears to have no yellow or cream at all. Honestly I personally find the dial of the 253 a bit boring in comparison to the 231.

Thanks and enjoy your beautiful watches!

Is this watch available in the US boutiques and ADs?

I've been wearing mine nearly every day for 3 months straight and there's no abnormal wear near the lugs. Perhaps someone who has had it longer can chime in...

The 231 dial is definitely more yellow than the 253, and that's a huge reason why I love it! It's a subtle Ecru color that gives it a vintage charm and a nice contrast if you choose the right strap combo.

Feel free to PM with other questions

Thanks for the great reply!

I'm going to wait and see what Basel holds but unless there's a game changer announced there I will most likely be getting very serious about acquiring a 231 after. May definitely be picking your brain.

I'm bumping this post because I am super interested in the GS 231. Can anyone provide more details on the watch? More pictures? Thanks!

So I’ve been looking for a dress watch for some time now. I visited my AD in London some time ago to have a chat and learn more about the brand, and I requested to try on 3 pieces - SBGM221, SBGR261 & the SBGW231. Fast forward a few months, my AD invited me back and I tried all 3 on. Interestingly, they said the 231 was in short supply and had no idea when they’d get one in stock (demand is outstripping supply and they are very difficult to get a hold of in the UK) ... however a cancelled order meant one was available to view.

Tbh I was expecting to fall in love with the 221 as that’s where my online research focused on, and the articles I read were singing its praises. However, I was blown away by the 231. I tried it on last, and was instantly drawn to its simple, clean and classy dial. What a timeless classic! The other 2 were gorgeous, but it was the 231 I struggled to remove from my wrist.

Enjoy the pics chaps.

SBGW231 is definitely a good choice if you have wrist size under 6 inch

Have you guys ever wonder why SBGW231 is a beauty with the hint of vintage vibe?
Perhaps you should view the watches below which I have compiled to give you an clearer explanation. I wonder if GS gotten the design inspiration from Patek Calatrava. haha

Just picked up this watch, would you mind sharing where you got that bracelet?

I have a fairly large wrist and I find the OEM strap the only downside to the watch. Would also be interested in hearing where people sourced deployants/straps for the SBGW231.

If helpful, I just called the GS boutique and placed an order for a deployant clasp and the beads of rice bracelet that fits this SBGW case. While I have the SBGW283, and not the 231 being discussed here, it's the same case and didn't have any issues ordering directly from GS. The deployant arrived the next day but it takes several months for the bracelet.
