No silly screw down pushers to delay activation. Works better than the Daytona to time the kids sprints. Larger display is easier to read and the larger red hands on white dial contrast a ton better than those tiny little daytona hands. (you know what they say about watches with tiny hands don't you?)

Daytona wins the hi-res photo wars 100% of the time but on the wrist the YMII is a much more useful chronograph. Now where is the mic drop emoji?
Well said. I like daytona but will likely get YM2 next.

My apologies. I thought someone said that Rolex first made the submariner in the 1950s when submarines were invented

I also made another mistake. It was the war of independence and not the civil war.

[QUOTE=Paul_I;9374686]I would like to hear more about this Royal Navy Man-o-War that fought in the American Civil War.

HMS Eagle. Btw it was the American Revolutionary War so even earlier.

I am a Submariner with a Submariner. Spent 26 years on Submarines in the US Navy.

FWIW, in our world it is pronounced "Submarine-er", not "Sub-Mariner". "Sub-Mariner" implies a Mariner of lesser quality, which we are not.

I do not have yacht or a Yachmaster but I do hold a USCG Masters license and have a 50 foot charter fishing boat.

I exclusively use me subc's bezel to time cooking. I don't dive, but my son does. Holiday Inn Express anyone?

I currently live about an hour away from Miami. Would live to own a smaller Yacht and drive it while wearing my YMII. hopefully that'll be accomplished in the next 20 years

One of the nicer ones too, and it "might" even look better on your yacht/jot/floaty thing on the sea/water in the future too!

Sorry I meant this one looked cool.
We can all have Yacht envy!
No doubt will soon look cooler watching a yacht or in one! or perhaps just out and about!

Should be called the “Parking Meter Master” as that’s all mine ever tracks!

This said I really appreciate the combination of a bi-directional bezel, simplicity of a non-chronograph movement (vs say a VC Overseas) and something that isn’t on every wrist everywhere (like the sub).

I really love my YM and it gets the second most wrist time of all my Rolex’s only because the Exp II is a great little field watch.

That's true....
I am Dutch, have a.o a YM II which I wear with much pleasure........
I also have a traditional Dutch Yacht which I also like very much.....it is a very stable yacht, not so fast however.
Up till now I did not use the count down timer on my yacht.

No Yachtmaster for me, also no yacht.
But I don't dive and wear a Sub and don't fly a plane and have a GMT.

I don't know how to drive a yacht. If I ever get the chance to at least I'll look as if I know what I'm doing.

The Rolex YM is not meant for yacht owners but for participants in a yacht race. The bi-directional bezel (YM) is supposed to assist with the tracking of elapsed time between buoys in a typical regatta. The 10 min countdown (YM II) helps with getting prepared for the start of the race. You don't own the yacht, just like a pilot doesn't own a formula 1.

Naming the watch Yacht-Master is perhaps confusing to most people, Yacht-Racer might have been a better name, IMHO.
Yeah I understand the point of the timer for the regatta but I feel like its even more niche to ask "how many of you race yaghts" than "how many of you have yaghts" I might be wrong tho

I don’t have a YM2 but my daughter races in half a dozen regattas a year. She uses a digital timer with audible beeps each minute and beeps each second for the final 10 seconds leading up to the start of the race.

After reading through the YM2 owners thread, I’m seriously considering picking up a 116680. Just as the Daytona is more useful to the spectator, I see the YM2 as the perfect toy to help ease long days of putzing around a hosting yacht club.
