Would you buy a SS Model from an AD at a premium?

So I popped into the AD that I bought my BLNR last year. This is an AD in a small town in India.

They had one yachtmaster and a white dial milguass in stock. I asked the owner about the availability of a Sub date, Sub no date, BLNR, ceramic daytona and blue dial SS Sky-D. He mentioned all available for order with delivery in 2 days. The prices he gave me are similar to TRF seller markups currently.

For e.g. for the Ceramic daytona and Blue SS Sky-D, he is asking approx $18.9K each. The warranty card would be in my name and dated on date of sale. He is asking $10.6K for the BLNR.

So my question to you all is - would you do it? I am torn, I want one of each of the white dial daytona and the blue sky-d but i can't get myself to pay over MSRP for a mass produced product.

Nope, never. I'm not a "pay above MSRP" type of guy. If I can't get it at retail, then I'm sure that I can find something else to fill the void.

The Daytona C is beautiful, but I'm moved on in my head. There's just too many other great pieces out there to cry about 1.

That’s actually less than current going rate for BNIB stickers white dial Daytona C. Just depends on how much you want it and how long you’re potentially willing to wait!

I’d never pay over retail for something from a retailer. Not that you are looking to resell, but if you did want/need to sell the depreciation starts at the retail price, not what you paid.

No. It’s a nice watch, but I don’t want/need it to merit paying over msrp.

Are they going to provide you with an official receipt priced over MSRP. I would love to get a copy of that receipt and send it to Rolex SA.

yes. a daytonac right now is worth far in excess of msrp. paying a grand or two more you would still be okay.

It's not worth the markup. Just be patient.

is that the "Rolex way"? Do they have any issues with dealers blatantly asking over MSRP? Do they condone it or admonish for it? Do they care? Bundling is one thing, but this could impact marketing strategy...

If it is the same price as the the trusted seller and If I MUST have the watch right away, then I would do it. It is a new watch. it is full 5 year warranty. It will be under your name. It is purchased from an AD.

But I personally would not.

But he is not paying a grand or two more. He'd be paying $6,500 more.

The bigger question here is, how is an AD charging over MSRP?!?! I always thought they weren't allowed to do this.

Are you saying AD had on 2 Rolex watches in stock? Are you sure this is actually an AD? Sounds more like a reseller, as he is making money after buying the watch at MSRP from an actual AD. To answer your question, No.

Yeah, kind of a strange post by OP. India or Indiana? Also, it doesn't sound like a reseller. He specifically said the warranty card would be with his name and the date of his purchase.
