My two favorite watches hands down. Suck it up and get both.

More bang for your buck on the BLRO but the 5164 is cool and discrete in a way the Rolex just isn’t. The Rolex makes up for it by being an icon.

After having 5164R and BLNR and travelling for 1+ year, 64 is much easier to operate, and of course PP is in a different league

Generally always go Patek if posed with a choice between one or the other. That said, if you want to own one watch then Rolex is as tough as it gets for everyday.

I say that owning both...just an unfair comparison given the price differential

Appreciate everyone's feedback, especially those with firsthand experience!

Agreed, it seems like a odd comparison given the price delta between the two: I've budgeted enough for the Patek but also a big fan of the BLRO and while it would be fun to have both, I'm not really looking to start a watch collection just something I can wear everyday.

Not even a contest for me. Patek.

If you go on durability and daily wearer and aesthetics I can see a comparison.

However once you factor in finishing of movement, case, production numbers, the buttons helping advance the second time zone (ability to hide it), the day night indicator, patterned dial. It's not even close for me.

Love the 5164. And for a big milestone. Patek in this case.

Good luck.

BLRO and other CE Rolexes wear a fair bit bigger than the 64 for me.

Plot twist, 5164 and 116170BLNR

I wore the 5164 during a trip to Japan in August humidity and it was the perfect ravel companion. Light enough to almost forget about it and an extremely useful complication. It would also be my watch of choice for travel in parts of the world where you don't want to draw attention to your wrist but still have a refined timepiece. The Rolex would be my watch of choice for beach vacations, time in the pool, and recreational scuba diving.

I think that might just be the angle. They are very close size wise. I’d say 6.5 wrist is plenty for either without sacrificing proportions.

Brian I have learned that above all else comfort and aesthetics are by far the most important qualities in a watch for me and these two have it in spades.

Couldn't agree more. I've been trending in this direction too ... just a slow learner

white gold BLRO is on a different planet than the 5164A on the rubber strap with pirelli tyre profile design pattern. black dial, blue dial or met dial, choose any of the BLRO's and you won"t look at the aquanaut anymore.

No no no ,Rollie is nice but common - like comparing a Mercedes to a Ferrari! The Patek is simply subtle elegance, you won’t ever sorry as you enjoy the Patek, Just MO :-))

Not sure how one compares these two. Besides both being a dual timezone watch, they are in different ballparks.

I think the 5164 easily takes this for me.. Rolex is definitely more rugged though.. if the 16710 is here instead I think it'd be a closer fight for me.

well, i have travelled a fair bit around the world and have never come across a WG BLRO. i really dislike the date wheel on the 5164, which creates a bottom heavy unbalanced dial
