Hooked on the Squares

Had g shocks in the past, but keep coming back to the squares, the OG. The descendants of the 5000 series, old school. Light, comfortable & pretty indestructible.

Nice! Do you have the modern classic 5600 series? Those may be, I am no expert.

Me too, now. I used to be a 6900 guy until I finally got my first square last year. Now I realize why they’re THE g-shock to have. They’re just so perfect.

Been wearing a 5600J in recent days. Just ordered a GW-B5600 which has Bluetooth. Love how easy they are to wear and you don't have to worry about knocking them about

I actually wear my DW5600-BB more than any of my watches. I love it’s simplicity, and history. I’m contemplating on getting the army green DW. Just good, affordable watches.

Picked it up today! Love it although it does feel quite plasticky and light. Perhaps I'm used the metal ones but I think I'll feel less conscious about knocking it about. It's crazy that it has the exact same features for so much less

It’s about the same as any of the other negative display Gs, so absolutely fine in good light or the right angle but a fair bit harder to read than the positive displays.

I’ve got a mix of both and on balance prefer the aesthetics of the negatives.

As with any negative display, I find it’s all about the angles and light

Vs

(Pics taken one after the other, just tilted the screen)

The negative displays don’t work for me. They are ok for secondary features like day or date windows, but for time, I prefer a positive display or analog hands.

You made me buy another one! I love the squares because they are traditional looking, fit comfortably and don't have the busy faces with all the unnecessary doohickeys (that I personally don't need) and extra plastic that make other G-Shocks look hokey and juvenile to me.

When I saw that "Adrenaline" red Bluetooth on a simpler looking square, I was like whoa that's cool! A few YouTube videos and reading reviews later and I pulled the trigger to add to my square collection. Just the right number of features and neat technology. Got mine at Macy's with free shipping and $20 off with "Macy's Money" I had from previous purchases.

So I thank you. My wallet does not.
