Well, it's very unfortunate that most younger kids don't seem to understand how good they have things, and how others sacrificed to make it that way. Good on you for taking them to task, Craig.

Well done Craig! Thank you for showing the little twits something about respect.
It just gives me the absolute $hits, that a lot of young people (and remember...I'm one of them!) nowadays are just so immature and plain stupid. I see it all the time, they loiter around wasting space and are a general nuisance, and show a total lack of respect to their elders & incontrovertible betters. I'm just glad that I was brought up properly by my folks, and had the common sense to choose my friends and mentors wisely.
And to act like that towards people who sacrifice their whole lives to ensure that the little buggers could live the life they do.....
So again, well done CJ. I'm right with you!

The Veteran, being the proud man that he was, respectfully declined their offer. Afterward, the old man thanked me and shook my hand. That hand shake and "thank you" meant more to me than any award, medal or commendation I ever received on the job...
Now I get to say "Thank You" to you, Craig!

What a wonderful story, Craig. Thank you for sharing it. I feel better knowing there are people out there like you who still care and are willing to speak up and take unthinking kids to task. Something their parents should have been doing all along.

Kudos to you, pal.

Not to worry, Craig. I doubt that thought crossed anyone's mind when reading your post. We know you too well to think that.

Well done, Craig! Sadly, the sacrifices we make today untimately contribute to tomorrow's complacency to some extent.

On other news, if everybody was more like Craig, we'd wouldn't have so much overcrowding, and if we had more JJs, well ..... it would be a bad time to be a sheep.

Late to the party (too busy looking at my PAM01)...

Good on ya, Craig! I think it's really sad that kids today show such disrespect for what vets did so future generations could benefit.

When it's poppy time in the fall (our vets sell plastic poppies to raise money/awareness) while gearing up for Rememberance Day, I always get my poppy, thank the vet selling them, and then put whatever money I have on me in subsequent boxes as I pass other vets, and make a point of looking them in the eye and saying 'thank you'. They always offer another poppy, but I decline.

This year I fully intend on taking Charlotte to the tomb of the unknown solder on November 11th, where the government hosts it's national Rememberance Day ceremony... to continue the tradition my dad started with me (although we went to the cenotaph in Toronto). It's paramount for parents to teach their children what past generations had to do, so we could live in freedom.

Punks like that obviously have parents who don't give a sh!te and that's sad.
