Try Springbank Cambletown CV (Chairman's Vat) with a wee drop of water if you get the chance. I know this sounds like name dropping but this one is (i.m.h.o.) a very good malt. Received it as a gift a couple of years ago, don't know the price.

Laphroaig 10 is my second favorite, right after The Macallan 25. I've tried the Laphroaig 15 and 30, but the 10 is still the best IMO because it has the most peat and that's what Laphroaig is all about. Compared to the Macallan 25, the Laphroaig 10 is a steal. I was going to get a bottle of the Macallan 25 at Heathrow when we were there in February, but they were asking GBP 200, which stopped me. So now I have to continue to savor what I have left from my GBP 100 bottle

Another great single I was put onto last year is the Balvenie 30. But that one has gotten out of hand as well. I think it was GBP 250 at Heathrow this year.

Have to agree with about the price, did have a Irish single malt was almost as good as the Laphroaig, but cannot remember the name.Only tasted the Macallen 25,but did not like it as much as the Laphroaig 10.I suppose its like everything else,a acquired taste, but tried a few but always gone back to Laphroaig.Hope to get a refill for my birthday off the memsab, hinted quite a few times the bottles less than half full,or half empty.

Ahhh, one of my favourite subjects!

Right now drinking this one from Islay:

But prefer Laphraoig 10 Y.O. to this as well, Padi.

However, this Bowmore 21 Y.O. is very nice! Still a lot of peat and smoke, but a bit more refined - the best I've had I think:

And if I'm in a mood for a lighter scotch, this has been quite good:

I used to drink Glenmorangie a good fine single malt, but got hooked on Laphraoig on a liveaboard diving trip in the Red Sea.Someone bought a bottle at the duty free london, and opened after he passed his divemaster course. After that there was no going back, cannot drink a lot now, got to watch the sugar. But a few years back, used to like a Gin and tonic, with a slice of lemon.

"Each bottle is precious to us and is individually numbered" (from the JW website).

P.S. Sorry for the typo, it's "Johnnie", not "Johnny"

LOL - I don't see anything stating how many of these replicas were made....can they be bought by anyone still?

That stuff is too sweet for my tastes......if I'm in the mood for Bourbon (not often) this is my choice:

You would drink anything if free (so would I). To answer Al's question: the replica bottle was a limited edition of only 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 made. Very rare indeed, gonna put it on eBay!

Real fanatics actually import water from the same area as where the scotch originates in order not to "pollute" the whiskey when they add water to it.
