Tiffany Dial Authentication

Can some of the experts here help me out in listing some things to look for when identifying a genuine submariner with Tiffany Dial. Unfortunately it does not have box and papers, but the private seller claims is was serviced by Rolex and they would only service 100% authentic watches, and that service can be verified by popping off the back case and see the red or black scribbles that Rolex Service places on their wathes.

Anything else or truth to that?

Thanks
Claude

Welcome! I would NOT buy any T&C dialed without T&C papers period! No what, if or buts about it. Pass and look for another.

I feel the same as the others, if it doesn't have B&P I wouldn't buy it. Nonsense about the markings on the case back can be ignored.

I would pass without the papers certifying that this is a real dial. It could be redialed, aftermarket, fake, etc..

Welcome to TRF! I highly suggest keeping your money in a safe place until the right watch comes along. Trust me! Having a nice Rolex for $3,500 vs nothing for $3k is what your facing. Don't risk anything on a scam artist. Not worth the heart ache.

I might buy one if the dial was in good shape, the font was correct, and they didn't want any "premium" for it......

There are no records on what watches were sold with Tiffany dials, so proving it without original paperwork is nearly impossible.. As far as service is concerned, Rolex will service watches with other printings on the dial... Many people, organizations, and companies personalize their authentic Rolex dials..

Rolex doesn't turn them down out-of-hand.

Agreed. As long as you like it and are not paying a premium for the T&C name, you're golden.

Rolex papers can be forged. Can Rolex be fooled? I don't know.

Good luck.

Tiffany and co. was placed on many different models and the font is often varied.

The only way to be sure the dial is authentic is original papers showing Tiffany and Co.

I would listen to Kyle and not buy these pieces unless with original papers.

It is not correct, Rolex know which watches were sold to Tiffany... so you can verify if the serial number is in the range of those sold to T&C

Thank you all. I actually went and looked at the watch since it was being sold by a local gold and jewlery dealer, and although i could not verify the authenticity of the dial, the watch had been polished, repolished, and the hands looked like they were brand new.

No bueno, thank you all for the assistance, this is a fantastic forum

Tiffany Sea Dweller

I have a Sea Dweller with a Tiffany dial that my father gave me. I took it into Tiffanys a few weeks ago and showed it to a watch expert, who put me in contact with a guy from Christie's that was trying to get me to sell it...
There isn't enough money in the world that would make me sell this watch:)
