Rolex, Tumi, and now.....

.... Antique Radios.

I went in to the antique radio store this morning to order a tube for one of my others and this 1936 Philco.... well... it just... SPOKE to me. There was supposed to be music coming out of the speaker but what I heard was: "Dorklehead... buy me.....buy me..... ". So, I did. Added this to my 1930 Grebe and my 1936 General Electric.

What is wrong with me!?!?!?!?

It's a Tune-Mi, not a Tumi! Love vintage radios, myself. Nothing's wrong with you, Paul! (At least not regarding vintage radios)!

Love vintage radios and have had a few over the years. Wonderful tone and style.

As requested Brian, and thank you for giving me the excuse to show them off The Radio is my 1930 Grebe, purchased by my grandmother new in that year, on top of it is a 1927 sessions clock, also purchased new by the same grandmother. The briefcase is my favorite Tumi item, the carbon fiber Marina, and next to it my 216570 Ex II Polar. None of the antiques that I own are very valuable, but they are worth a lot to me; especially the ones that have been in my family for 90 ish years.

P.S. Above the radio is a picture of me in my college sports playing days, my signature game against USC. That was a LONG time ago.

Nice! I would think is something wrong if you start collecting human bones or so!!
I still keeping my grandfather's Telefunken Radio and other one with vinyl player! Love them.

Shhhh....Paul may still be under contract for promoting popcorn ceiling makeovers in the 80s during his infomercial times.

I do like the radio however!

lol my dad and I bought a vintage radio collection on a whim. my mom has been so pissed we have half our basement filled with 100-200 radios rofl. I think we got like 5 or 10 Zenith Trans oceanics, and a bunch of other radios that were just plain retro to vintage. My dad and I have been listening to football games every saturday through this beautiful deco speaker and the sound is just incredible. really feels great to listen to, distortion and all.

I have had a couple neighbors in my complex that had their popcorn ceiling removed, since I do projects all the time (have re-modeled my entire condo myself) I get asked a lot why I leave it up there. The answer is simple: Sound. I listen to music almost constantly on one of two Bose systems. In my neighbors places that have removed the popcorn, everything, even voice, sounds echoishy (is that a word?) and "tingy." I really believe it makes a difference having the sound absorbing ceiling (supposedly that's the purpose of popcorn). I don't mind the way it looks, so until I have problems with it coming down and they invent some better sound-absorbant material, yep, the pop is staying up!

How old is your popcorn? Early 80's can be asbestos. Best to leave it there.
