True, there is only one "Bond", and that is Sean Connery, but I started on the Ian Fleming books in grade school, then the films. Something about the purity of On Her Majesty's Secret Service . Looking at the film rather than the Bond ...

Any of the early ones ............. pre absurd special affects.
Connery and early Moore bring back the most memories.

(poll) Who's your favorite 007 ?
For me, Moore was the best "Bond". In terms of who I think is James Bond. Followed by Connery and Brosnan.
Craig is fine as an action star, but for me, he isn't "James Bond". Bond needs to also be suave, cool and sophisticated. Craig is more of a bulldog with a machine gun. A Jason Bourne without the mystery. Though Casino Royale was very enjoyable (the only Bond film of Craig's that I like). Here's a nice Moore story. RIP. |

Agreed - Casino Royale is one of the few that I can watch over and over again.

Thanks to Adams amazing recall, I realize I am a flip flopper between Connery and Moore.
I was 7 years old when roger Moore was introduced as James Bond, perhaps the perfect age for imagination and fantasy to capture a youthful spirit. my favorite bond films are live and let die and the spy who loved me. Connery is timeless and maybe if I was just a few years older he'd be my guy but ...

Honestly, there isn't a Bond actor that I don't like. I was introduced to the series through "Goldeneye" so i have an affinity for Pierce, even though I think some of his movies suffered because of casting choices and writing.

Timothy Dalton played Bond most like Flemming's source material. That said, Connery has been my favorite.

As a knee-jerk reaction I always used to say Connery but I revisted the movies a while back and now I think Moore got it right, also he is starring in a few of the best, Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved me. Lazenby is good too, as is Dalton.

Lazenby is underrated, mainly because of the 70's clothes he wore that are outrageous.

Connery is James Bond.
However, Craig was the best Bond "replacement." I can watch any of the movies over and over. |

It was close.... went w/ Connery, but he barely edges out Daniel Craig. The Craig version moved away from the over the top cheesy silliness of Moore (whom I still liked) and, to a lesser extent, Brosnan.
