Late to the party, but Frans, you surprise me. Your dream car is an Auburn? I much prefer the Delahaye. They made some stunning cars.

For me, it has always been, and will always be the 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso.

That Auburn is a beautiful car, Frans, but I'm not into driving or owning antiques. I prefer the more modern lines. My favorite is the Aston Martin DB9 convertible.

That's why I would take the replica, under the skin it's a modern car As far a US cars can be modern

Even as a replica, I still prefer the more modern lines. Granted it photographs beautifully, but not my driving preference.

Have to think this one over, ther're so many great cars. Duesenberg springs to mind, but these are too outlandish perhaps. Must be practical to drive, not sit in a garage

Mine would be an E type Jaguar I think.....love the lines of that car even though they had many problems. One of the guys that works at my plant was racing his on the vintage circuit for many years until it became too expensive.

For a more contemporary dream car it would be this, the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato:

Eat your heart out Bond, James Bond

And the winner, the Spyker C12 LaTurbie:

I am self admittidley not a car guy, but my Father has and is the original owner of a 1969 Dodge Roadrunner with a 383. Don't quote me on the specs, I am just thinking I remember. He has fully restored it or is about done and it is a sweet muscle car.

No bashing from me. How can one judge another person's taste? Taste is personal. It's an icon in US car history. Now, give me the $$$ to buy that Spyker

The Spijker (later changed to Spyker) brothers were coach builders. They made the (horse drawn) carriage for Queen Wilhelmina in 1898 (The Golden Carriage). Later they started to make motor cars, equal, or better in quality than Rolls Royce. They went bankrupt over this. The brand name Spyker is now owned by a Dutch businessman and car enthusiast. They’re completely hand made, except for the engines that come from Audi and are reworked (like ETA). Up until now, the factory never made any real profit although the cars are very expensive. As Spyker also made aeroplanes, a lot of references to 'planes can be found on and in the cars. Most do 300 Km/h. www.spykercars.com

Here are some pics of the Spyker C8 from the latest Robb Report. It's one of their Cars of the Year.

And the story:

Polished to perfection, the C8 Spyder was, in the words of Dan Stridsberg, “the crown jewel” of this year’s Car of the Year event. The vehicle’s engine, body panels, suspension subframes, interior fittings—even the electronic key fob—represent an encomium to aluminum, while the quilted-leather interior recalls a giant Chanel handbag. A fitted Louis Vuitton tool kit and luggage set, made especially for the Spyder, reinforce the fact that this is a bespoke automobile. It is a versatile one as well: The aluminum hardtop, with its love-it-or-hate-it profile, bolts on easily to transform the sexy Spyder into an all-weather sports car.

The Spyder’s hand-formed aluminum body is diminutive compared to that of most cars, and it is as light as it is compact. This lightness translates to razor-sharp handling and a seat-of-the-pants feel that is comparable to the experience behind the wheel of a Lotus Elise. “A go-kart for grown-ups—with a trust fund,” said Todd Thomson.

Well, Ed, it's just as well that your name's Ed. Now all you gotta do is find a casino to run.

Anyway, my dream car is somewhere between the really old and the modern. Last time I checked, there are only 15 of these babies left in the world:

James, that Ferrari is up on my top 10 list for sure... but I still LOVE the Lusso best.

Frans, sorry mate, just not a fan of the Spyker. If I wanted something post modern, I'd go for an Enzo or a McLaren.

The Lusso's gorgeous and the Mac's a modern classic. Can't say the Enzo (or any post-1986 Ferrari besides the 456/550) really does it for me.

I mostly agree there. I love the 550 a LOT! Although I think the Modena will go down in history as a somewhat timeless modern design. By far, IMHO, the prettiest Ferrari since perhaps the Boxer.
